In a word, yes, car drivers are un-predictable so no doubt, that last minute check has saved me somewhere. ____________________ ?It?s mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack?not rationality.? |

Why are you asking ranna? If you are even thinking about not doing them for any reason - DON'T!!
You can guarantee that the first time you forget/can't be bothered whatever will be the time some tool is trying to overtake in your blind spot, and that'll be goodnight |

Yes! One time in particular I remember when I was out on some twisty roads and I was about to pass a car so I done a lifesaver and there was a biker riding right along side and slightly to the back of me. Extremely close! He came from nowhere. So I just stayed in place and let him go by. If I never lifesavered I would have taken him out. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

I'm sure it has saved my life, if not avoided some nasty spills. Too many times to recall, and i've only been riding a few months...
I highly recommend doing lifesavers, wherever needed!
And use your mirrors frequently AS WELL.
(i have to try to use mirrors a bit more). Its good to know whats going on around you, for safety and re-assurance.) |

My boyfriend once forgot a lifesaver (me on the back, raining, long day as a courier, he was tired and just wanted to get home). He turned legally onto the Embankment but then had to cut across two lanes to do a sharp left turn to get to Chelsea Harbour, and heard someone shout "Oi!!!!" behind him.
*Somehow* he had managed to cut up a Hells Angel
He did say "Sorry!" but by then, the HA bloke was long gone
Fortunately neither (any) of us came off the worse for wear - or was interested in anything more than getting on with getting out of the rain. I often wonder who it was but no-one's ever come up to him and gone "'Ere, you cut me up on the Embankment in the rain!" *doink* ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

In Italy they also teach us sort of life savers for the car .... just looking out of the window over the shoulder before moving to cover the mirror blind spot ... and although I have not been riding enough to really notice a difference ... I remember a particular occasion in the car when I was overtaking a slow car on the A21 on a large left bend and the mirror did not show a car that was overtaking me very quickly ... was just a bout to pull out but stopped in time!! ____________________
