It was fine, however I'm a Nilhlistic and virtually unbreakable.

The issue is confidence, in that if you sit and stew about it, this will only negatively affect your confidence. While if you go out there and ride your confidence can go both ways, usually the act of merely riding increases your confidence... as long as you don't crash.

Its just a mental block. Best thing to do is just get back on the horse.

If you give up riding because you have had an off you will regret it. Think about it this way.

You cut your finger on a knife your not going to stop using knives.
Burn yourself on an oven your not going to stop eating.
Fall out of bed your not going to stop sleeping.
Treat it as the same thing.

I'll be more careful and take it easy untill my confidence rebuilds

It is natural to be weary after an off, but the best thing to do is get straight back on when your body has mended.

If you really are concerned then you could also book yourself onto an advanced course or just get a couple of extra lessons Thumbs Up

I hit a patch of black ice in the car and skidded into a ditch a few years ago, stopped 6ft off a tree, really shook me up. Last winter I was a nervous wreck driving in the ice/snow, really tense but I knew I had to do it as we live in the country and drive LOTS. You will be nervous for a while whether you do it now or in 5 years time.
Good luck Thumbs Up

after an off that wasnt my fault, that resulted in several vertabra, a few ribs broken and over 6 months off work recovery i was extremely worried about getting back on a bike. I actually freaked out when passenger in a car driving down the road the accident occured on.

Before i commited to purchasing another bike (though bought all the kit) i booked a couple of days lessons. I explained to the school what had happened, they basically took me through a quick cbt, out all day on a 125. the following week i booked to take a 500 out with one of their instructors, with bike to bike radio. We had a great day out, with some really relaxed riding. It gave me the confidence that i could get an other bike, and whilst i bought a bike quite quickly after this it was probably another 2 years before I was riding confidently and relaxed. Couldnt recommend it enough if you have concerns about riding again, as the instructor will point out anywhere you are going wrong and give you the confidence and belief to ride again, or will give you controlled circumstances if you are going to freak out.

After my accident last year I jumped on after I healed up.

Don't get me wrong I was shaking, worried and unconfident.

Rode down my track, got onto the main road.

1 second riding...

2 second's of riding...

3 sec-

BAM. Was loving it a again.

Whenever I had nerve issues, or hesitation, do what I do.

Simply think, FCUK IT. And do it straight after thinking, don't think anymore, just do it. Jump right in, let that sh!t slide.

Fcuk it, is a excellent way of going about doing something when hesitant.

I had a bad off a few years back and due to being 33bhp lisense and still living at home at the time I had to get the bike restricted.

The point is my first ever ride was 45miles which was obviously much more than I wanted for my first ride and most of the time I was quite worried about it but found with time this did start to go away.

Even now (4 years on) I feel a lot more cautious on the road and never tend to go for fast rideouts like I used to.

Give it time and you should be fine Thumbs Up

Judging by your name, I'm guessing that you ride a Piaggio NRG??

If so they are a pain in the wet, I had a '55 plate NRG 5 years ago and they handle like crap in the rain, braking is a nightmare.

I remember the first time I had a crash was on my brand spanking new £1,700 NRG and some idiot pulled out of a sideroad without looking and went straight into the side of me.

Luckily I was wearing my mates leathers which I was on the way to return them so I didnt have any shreadded skin, only a few bruises on arms/elbows/knees etc.

I was shaken up by it and didnt really want to get up and ride the bike home, which was smashed into lots of lovely small pieces but rideable,I was about 20 odd miles from home I had no choice and just got on my moped and just went with it.

I was nervous as anything and stuck well under the limit but by the time I was home I was kinda chuckling about it, weird I know, but it was fine after a day or two of riding more.

Then along came the insurance payout... and a new bike, and lots of other new stuff for me. Smile

I crashed for the first time in June, on track during the 3rd session of the day, target fixation fucked me and sent me in the grass after going into a corner a little excited.

Landed on my head, hurt my thigh (though that didnt hurt until later on), but instead of worrying about it I just got back on and finished the afternoon sessions no problem (though at a slower pace than the morning)

I later that night realised i had concussion as i dont remember barely anything from that evening haha, and i had a pretty bad headache on the drive home in the van.

basically mate, dont think about it too much, take it easy until your happy again Thumbs Up but dont wait any longer to get back on, longer you leave it im sure the anxiety of the situation will oly get worse

Yes, most people will feel anxious after a crash, especially if you had a long time between healing and getting back in the saddle.

It was 4months before I was able to ride again, be cause of the damage to by leg, ankle, foot and pelvis. But I made a pact, I told myself and all my friends, the time when I can my foot comfortably into boots, was the time I would collect my bike and ride again.

Though what I did first, was get a mate to take me for a pillion ride out, just to give me a boost. It did the job and I went out a couple of days later and picked up my bike.

I also sold the bike I had the accident on, and got something a little faster and newer. Thumbs Up
