what's the going rate for these?
I've got a friend who's selling one to another friend of mine (they dont know eachother), and i dont really want to be the one being the middle man if anyone finds out they're under or overpaying.
bike in question is a 2000 W reg (RWU forks)
comes with a spare set of plastics, 2 exhausts and road kit (road reg'd obv, but no tax or test when sold)
it's tidy for its age, and runs spot on.
google image, but looks near enough exactly like this but with different forks.

well the offer currently stands at 1400, so not too far off if you're right about the upper limit. i think 800 is far too low. thats early EGS/LC4 territory.
aand its to be his first proper enduro
EDIT: arent you a devonite? we're out enduroing on friday/sat ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. I actually see them pop up quite regularly. For rare, KTM made a 550 stroker too!
I'd agree on the pricing delvey91 posted. 1400 should get you a newer model KTM, though prices do seem to have been holding fairly high recently.
Can't find details, but could swear I've seen one recently (been browsing KTMs for sale) for £1300 with both sets of wheels maybe (definitely had SM). There is one on ebay for £1750, but think he's dreaming a bit, though it is quite shiny, with mot, history etc.
I'd be suspicious of the age if it's got right way up forks, thought they had upside down then, though they do change about a bit.
My first proper enduro bike was a non-powervalve 87 KTM350enduro and I found it find - had so plenty enough power off-pipe that you could just chug along, then spin it up as it got on-pipe.
Where are you enduroing on Friday? |

picked it up friday and its going to be pretty gnarly whatever its used for.
the plans for it to turn it into a slightly more sedate laner are as follows:
> stock exhaust system (keeping the doma system because the owner is a fag and wants to SM it at some point
> retard the ignition slightly
> close the powervalve
should give it a nice bit of bottom end and a progressive band. the rings are also being done as a matter of course to save agro down the line ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. by doing what we're going to do with it it'll give it near enough a 4 stroke powerband with no real surge as such, and make it shit easy to start ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. its a completely different engine to the 300/350. And it's extremely peaky ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. I don't I'm afraid.
As I say, I expect it was probably a continuation of the older 350 line, rather than being being based on the newer 250s.
KTM talk will have actually useful knowledge rather than guesswork probably.
Unfortunately KTMs do tend to look pretty similar even with different base engine/frame models. Often the same plastics are used regardless of size and two/four stroke.
You should be able to get your KTM up to at 300 easily, don't know about more than that, however. But anyway, if you want a man's bike as I say, go for the 550 2 stroke engine . |
