PostPosted: 21:17 - 21 Sep 2010    Post subject: Honda wont start!! Reply with quote

hello i had recieved today my streetfighter style headlights and indicators for my honda ns125r, after taking off the frame and attaching the clock to the handlebars ETC, i fitted the the headlights too a postive and a negative for the headlights (there are more for headlights example: flash and high beam which was not installed and compatible for my new headlights). anyway after moving thing around and fitting it all together i started up the bike and all was well, my friend then tapped my engine stop button and then turned back off again (bike cut out at this point).... but now the bike wont start!? i have taken out the spark plug and it has a decent spark from what i can see! it has fuel in there but maybe a little too much?.... Can someone PLEASE HELP!! i need my bike for college and its NEVER gone wrong so far!! Sad

Sounds like wiring shorting or a fuse

Exactly as i was thinking, it has got too late tonight so i shall carry on looking after college tomorrow (after my 6 mile walk there and back Neutral ) i had fiddled about but yet cant find a solution! is there a possibility that the engine stop has gone wrong down the line? engine stop wiring?

So you just swapped your lights with a new set?

Does the starter motor turn?

Do the lights/electrics work?

You say your mate flipped the kill switch? Have you had problems with it before? Maybe a short in the switch?

Have you tried to bump start it?

it has compression.
lights, indicators and horn etc works.
bike does not have a electric start due too the year.
i have tried a couple bumps starts in various gears, the bike just does not like me :\
its NEVER had a running problem EVER so far! and was fine until my friend pressed the killswitch and tried starting again with a bit of choke.
has a spark and i left for HOURS too make sure it wasnt just flooded!
PLEASE HELP!
thanks

If you have compression and spark then the only thing you are missing is fuel. Otherwise it would start.

If it was the kill switch you would not get a spark

it HAS fuel! there was fuel in the head when i took out the spark plug! and i checked my spark plug against a bit or metal.
i shall have too try the kill switch tomorrow (hoping with fingers crossed) but then like you said.... it shouldnt be sparking if it was the killswitch!? quiet honestly this has baffled me!
and i didnt directly touch the ignition BUT the wires do enter the same loom as the ones which have been moved! all dash lights work for example neutral light

Ah didnt read it all. Can't be electrical if you have a spark.

Fuel vote.

So it has spark yes? it has fuel yes?

try put a smidgen of petrol down the cylinder with the plug out wind the plug in and kick her over.

i higly doubt its anything serious...

if it was fine before kill switch was hit

turn the lights ALLL off etc. does your battery hold charge? as in lights work with jus ignition on?

my ns engine runs with a dead battery just make sure nothing is on when i try to kick it over from fresh.

is your choke jammed on?

i shall try tomorrow with the petrol in cylinder!
it was completey fine before. i shall unplug my headlights and indicators and try again tomorrow! it has never had the battery flat and ALWAYS started first try one kick start! always ran on castrol oil and super unleaded!
if choke is jammed on how would i go about solving it?
im kinda thinking maybe its time to let go of the beautiful machine! the fairings are looking shabby! but i still cant see how a machine like this that has NEVER had a problem or been taken apart can just go wrong over something so silly!
