 |
|
It's been rather a long time coming, but some time ago, after garyd put the CRF230 on rather a pedestal of "it's all you'll need" and I suggested on his terms a c90 is in fact all you need... I present to you a c90 at Enduroland!
Ok, since I'd got one, I'd been hoping to take it green laning sometime, but it's rare that I go and I'm going to be pretty busy for some time, so I thought this was a good enough example as it covers everything you'd find on a green lane and more (muddy, steep, rocky, jumps, fast etc)....
Starting off on the second circuit in the afternoon:

Tackling a rocky section 'feet up':

Airtime (a tiny bit)

I took it on both route they had running and it certainly 'coped' fine. It wasn't the fast bike out there and I'm not the fastest rider. Kept up well on the smoother twisty singletrack.
But there's the crux; it did 'ok', while even a crf230 I'd have probably found more enjoyable and proper enduro bike even more so - with decent suspension bumps are smoothed and you can stop quicker, which thus allows you a bit more safe speed too.
While it was ok and I had some fun on it, I had a lot more fun on my competition enduro bike still.
Note the only consession to dirt riding was the trials style 'postie tyres' with rimlocks, though I didn't go for low pressures. No other alterations were made to the bike from stock!
So, to conclude: almost anything can be used for off-roading and fun can still be had, but for real fun, choose the best dirt bike you can!

That is awesome
I remember seeing a C90 at an Enduro event a couple of years ago, in Warrington, I couldn't stop laughing, the guy was pretty quick as well! ____________________ 2009 CBR1000RR

Although I find this uber cool ... you telling me you left perfectly good trail bikes at home and chose to ride this on the C90?!!? - surely a waste of cash?!!? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

C90s seem to fetch good money though
I was thinking of getting a rev3 for laning. ... just not sure what the tank range and lack of property sitting would be like on a day out
what do you reckon? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I think you should just get ya'self to enduroland, enduro kent or similar .
However, I do plan to road legalise mine if it's not too much hassle, welcome to have a go to try it out if I do.
If you don't like the tank range of your KTM, really won't like that of a trials bike!
I would like to get a 'long range tank' kit for mine - it gives you both an extra tank and a seat. Apparently trials ability isn't too badly affected either. |
