followed by lots of scraping metal was the noise of my journey home yesterday.

About midnight I was travelling down the A413 from Uxbridge to home via Chalfont st Peter and suddenly there was a tree in my way. I remember thinking it was too late to avoid and so tried to go through it given it's soft bushy appearance. Unfortunately there was a trunk too and so I'm sent hurtling down the carriageway at 70 mph - a little bit of braking.

When I stopped I jumped straight up and ran in to the median, then back across the lanes of traffic as soon as a car had passed. A guy in a works 4x4 pulled up to check I was ok, then went round and warned traffic with his yellow lights - A big thanks to him for his help and concern, especially as the first bloke who pulled up was way more concerned with his car (later turned out he was a doctor - according to the police anyway).

I managed to stop traffic long enough to get the bike of the road (the power of a yellow jacket!) and then watched cars skidding as they partially avoided the tree while the guy was travelling round to put his 4x4 in the way.

Surprisingly I'm all in one piece and only have cuts, bruises and a bit of back and neck ache.

Here's the paint diagram!

Cuts to follow, I haven't pictured the bike yet - it's still by the road. Although I did lose a handlebar, the clutch lever, infact all the controls on the left hand side.

Don't worry the anti-theft protection still works (the hyosung logo is facing the road)!

Not a clue how it got there, can't've been there too long but it was blocking most of both lanes (inside lane completely).

Bike was scuffed up, hoping it's mainly cosmetic.

No pics at the time - too dark and my phone was nearly out of battery.

Cops and ambulance drivers were both surprised at how well I looked given I was doing 70 at the time - both lucky and unlucky I guess.

Well, got the bike back to work's underground car park - mainly superficial damage, nothing some new fairing and a bit of P38 won't fix, oh and new controls along the left hand side. Pics coming when I get home - the injuries to me don't look so impressive very little bruising etc. but one hell of a sore neck and back.

Big thanks to Glenn at https://www.gandjmotorcyclerecovery.co.uk/ who was quick, friendly and best of all cheap! Would recommend to anyone in the South Bucks / Hemel Hempstead / Watford area.

On a side note, how come Andy C is known as a Tree Seeking Missile and I don't get that title?
