Just managed to drop the bike... turning it round on my drive way!

Thought I'd turn it round and lock it up, went down a slight curb with sidestand down, it got grounded... leant it away from me to kick it up... over it goes low as can be.

A stone has punched a tiny hole through the fairing side, scratch about the size of a 5p. end of my throttle has cracked a bit, I'm actually waiting for bar ends to turn up as well.... SIGH.

grr... pissed off with myself... and 185kg is REALLY heavy.

I dropped my ER on the drive. I tried turning it around but didn't want to knock my mirror with my arm, then it went a little too far the other way and went down, pulled me over the bike and I head butted the floor Laughing

It had been dropped on that side by the previous owner though, so there was no new damage.

Was awkward to pick up though as my drive consists of mud and gravel, makes backing it up when sat on the bike a pain in the arse as well.

Not sure how much the Er6 unfaired weighs, but when my ex dropped hers - after a few days of owning it, i copped it one.
Walked back towards the bike F'ing and blinding, lifted it with such force it almost went over the other side Embarassed
Im guessing it all depends how much adrenalin you have at the time Laughing

Seems to be the weather for it. I stopped yesterday in the pissing rain heading to work. Put my foot down and my foot slipped from under me. End result was the bike on its side on the floor! OOOPS!

Couple of scratches on the fairing, but its old and already scratched so not too noticable, Slightly bent the clutch handle but that bent back into shape again, clutch cable has started to fray so new one in my bag ready to be fitted and popped a rubber fairing bung so ordered me some crash bungs to replace.

I'm just glad it was at a stand still rather than while I was moving.

Haven't dropped my Varadero...................... yet. Nearly did with a pillion on too, but just used brute force to lift it up. As for just moving it around, just keep the bike close to the body and don't rush, think about what you need to do well in advance. Last time I did drop a bike was about 10 years ago when I left the disc lock on one of my Africa Twins, but they are easy to pick up.

The mental image of having to pick up my 230 kg GT650R was enough to actually make me join the gym! I had no problems picking up my GS500 after a u-turn gone wrong, but that is 50 kg lighter!

Its a simple equation of:

Successful lift = technique + adrenaline + embarrassment x rage

I picked up my CBR three times on the first go, another crashed CBR when a woman came off in front of me and a ZX6R when my mates got knocked over. I was only about 11st at the time and it was always far easier than expected!

Never had to get my mum to help Laughing

None of you have experienced the 'suicide stand' on a ST2. Now i've altered the ride height it is even more suicidal.
Imagine a sidestand that is spingloaded like a mutha, yet shaped like a supermodels high heel. Now attach that to the engine.

So far i have been butch and kept that bitch sorted. But she will get me one day.

Pansies!

Had to lift the tourer a few times. Once when the side stand sank into the ground Embarassed

Specification says dry weight 288 kg (635 lb) so add on a bit for a full fuel tank, oil, full panniers, etc. and it'll be close to 300kg.

Easy peasy if you know the right technique. Do a google if you want. IIRC there's also some YouTube bits of girls lifting BMW tourers to prove how easy it is.

A bit back had to help lift a 600 sports thingy from the side of the road (rider had converted forward motion into horizontal at a roundabout Wink) and was surprised how easy they are to lift. No wonder plenty go walkies into vans if not tied down.

HTH Thumbs Up

I tried to shake a lost bolt out from the depths of the unobtainable by lowering and shaking my bike just above the ground; needless to say it didn't work, but then again it wasn't exactly hard to lift. I weighed 96kg at the time.

Laughing I found myself doing that a few months back, quickly came to my senses and realised it was a bad idea.

Been in the unfortunate position of having to lift the Bandit a few times in the last couple of months... Thankfully the worst of the damage was just a small scratch on one of the bar ends.

It's not the lightest of bikes (certainly noticeably heavier than the GPZ) but I've still had enough pies to be able to give it a good weight match Embarassed
