After selling my DTR, I always wanted to polish a turd!

A 2007 Sukida GY125 only done 182 miles from new. Paid 300 Quid!

Idea!. Modding! a 4T sleeper.

Modds.. an long bar in the end can, knocked the plate right out for the restrictor.

Head porting and valve work.

Race CDI.

Expected Power, unknown. but! stated power is 8.2KW 11hp. I rekon about 15-ish.

the day i got it..

https://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c357/satelliteone/Sukida%20GY125/B2TvfWkKGrHqVhsEqBUUSPBBMh9geoUqg_12.jpg

https://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c357/satelliteone/Sukida%20GY125/B2TvcggWkKGrHqRiEqnOiEWhBMh9gFb_12.jpg

I cant believe how much rust! on the rack/handle bars/yokes/brackets/swing/exhaust .. A good old wire wheel and slap of ronseal gate paint sorted that out! along with wire wool on the rims.. Then a few coats of lacquer. Nasty chrome!

You're going to rev that to 14k when it's that close to your balls? You're a braver man than I am.

Appreciate this thread, will be good to see if you can achieve any more power. What are you going to do about fuelling? I would've thought you would need to increase both fuel & air delivery as well doing something with the exhaust?

I doubt it will make 15bhp or get to 14000 rpm. Still cool that you are modding it though and I enjoyed the pics Thumbs Up

I have ridden and worked on someones Kinroad GY125 and it looks like the same bike as this, the engine looks exactly the same.

The gearing was the main thing we changed on a mates on of these, it took it from some 50mph redline to 60mph.

Thats it

It was terrible in pretty much everyway.

Id be looking into just junking the end can and putting somthing lighter and more free flowing. If i recall, the carb was also tiny.

Ill keep an eye on this thread though as i admire your enthusiasm!

How far was the ignition retarded on it? I'm curious, given that I've got one of these, and if I could eke even the tiniest bit more out of it on the cheap, I'd be chuffed.

What does the emissions control thing do/how does it do it? Is it just a matter of removing the thing, or would I need to account for that anywhere else (presumably the CDI)?

The emission control, well.. Co2 levels in some counties are very strict for import, the idea is to inject more air into the exhaust system. Cooling the gasses, reducing Co2.

The way these chinkies got around it was to, use inlet pressure to drive a relay valve. Air from out side getting sucked into the exhaust system.

Why u ask is the point, i agree, these carbs are so lean in many cases IMO.

As to the Cdi. Again for importation and legal imports, Power outputs had to be low. The book figures are 8.2Kw on the 125. Only in two ways restriction exists. Exhuast and Cdi. You also forget that the CB125 push rod engine, (the older points) was book figure of 14.6HP. just on the legal requirement of the UK, 11Kw way back in the early eighties.

A bored out CB125(150) single cylinder with better timing can reach 18Hp.

Not a lot you say, against a DTR or KMX gasgas or 2T 125`s. My DTR was around the 18HP just sticking a Dep on it.

The 2T`s are great om a MX track but a 37inch seat hight 36HP 125 in a green lane is mad!. A 4T will keep you alive for longer!.

here is a link to the CDI`s, Gy125,150,200 and the GY6 engines.

Cheers, dude. I'll Take a look at it.

Incidentally, regarding the exhaust thing, don't be tempted to go for a cherrybomb like I did - it appears to cause some backpressure problems (i.e. a complete lack of it). I now have to hold my hand over the mouth of the exhaust to help start the thing.
NB: Don't take that as engineering gospel or anything; I'm just relaying my experience. It may well be something totally different causing the problem, of course. It's not the most well-cared for of my bikes, in truth...

:edit - bugger, it looks like my CDI is entirely different to yours. It's a square 8-pin plug, as opposed to the rounded 6-pin you've got.

i think youve put the forks in the wrong way round.

the brake caliper should be between the forks and frame, not on the front.

In 182 miles, the forks are pitted badly enough to warrant a new set. Shocked Impressive.

Looking forward to seeing the results. Pretty cool project Thumbs Up.

We have some eagle eyed viewers in the house!.

The forks are pitted, and mr postie is on the way to give me some really good second hand ones, The Ebay parts department sorted that out.

Agreed. iam not sure why they are either carvel. It looks like. some one has damaged them in the first place. The history of the bike, was left in a back garden with loads of small children for quite a while. The marks are pretty uniform horizontal. makes me wonder. Hitting with a stick or somthin. then just left to rust. OR just could be crap metal! But 50 quid to replace!.not too bad.

Yup and they are on the wrong way round too. Also the bottom yoke bolts aint done up yet. It was just temp way of getting the front end sittin proper, while i put the engine back in.

Dont worry, It will be righted..!

Comon mr Postie!.. i want to ride the beast..
