I bought some downpipes off someone recently how can I tell if they are stainless steel or Titanium ? They aren't the usual shiny stainless jobbies and are extremely light, they weigh 1.2kgs They are gold in colour with some blue tinge here and there do you reckon they will be Ti ? Is there any easy way I can tell ?

That ^

The most obvious difference would be the weight difference between the OEM and your new set, although 1.2kg does seem very light.

Neither is Titanium, so a magnet won't give you an answer!

You could always try the same way I used to do it in the scrap yard I worked in (when I couldn't be bothered to go get my portable spectroscope).

Find a bit you won't see afterwards and use a grinding wheel, white spark (you won't mistake it) is Titanium, yellowy/red would be stainless. A little dremel will do it, it's pretty obvious.

Ti is as light as a air i swapped out some SS pipes for some Ti ones on an MT-01 once and the difference is unreal.

Measure the length and thickness of the metal, do some maths to get a volume of metal and compare to the density of SS and Ti.

So repeating it for a 3rd time probably would be stating the obvious...
