Congratulations on your purchase.
Try not to break it before you get a chance to ride it though. |

Grats on the bike.
I think you'll find it a lot easier and feel a lot more in control once you've done the CBT |

At last, a chance to be helpful!
Putting it on and off the centre-stand is one of the first things they show you on the CBT. Funnily enough it was a YBR that I did my CBT on last month and, once I got out on the road, I enjoyed flying around on it so congrats on picking a good first bike!
I think you've picked the one thing that I found really tough, the clutch. But I suspect your car experience will have you mastering it in no time, like everyone has kindly told me just relax and it will come to you.
Most of all, just enjoy it. For all my difficulties from never having been in charge of a powered vehicle before I finished the day with my face aching from grinning so much! Good luck. ____________________ CBT 11/09/10! Theory Passed 12/10/10! Mod 1 Passed 08/03/11! Mod 2 passed 13/04/11!

Ha ha ha - welcome.
You will be surprised how quickly your really heavy bike becomes this little toy you throw around, and can easily pick up after a drop, or get onto the centre stand. You don't need muscles...not at all. You need experience.
For example, take me...skinny, 56kg (8.5 stone) 5ft 8" tall...been riding for oodles of years, just sold my 650cc naked motorbike, done a lot of miles, up and down the motorway, and I don't do the gym.
It doesn't take muscles to ride. That's for sure. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Hi and congrats on your bike (great bike but I'm biased ).
It took forever for me to work out how to put mine on its centre stand and get used to the weight and now it takes no effort at all and I'm a short female Although I do tend to use the side stand more when out and about.
Mine's also scratched up but that was more where I tried to get it in and out of my front gate in the first few months than anything else and yes I've dropped it on me 2x and been knocked off 1x.
As long as you're not going at more than 5mph and you come a cropper then you shouldn't get too hurt if it falls on you not if your kitted up, just bruised ego and body. Just try and relax (you'll hear that often) and keep practising.
Safe riding. ____________________ Current ride - 2005 Suzuki GSX-R600 K4 - 2x 2014 Honda NC750s long term courtesy bikes - 2003 Fazer FZ6 written off as idiot reversed into me - 2009 YBR125 - still have from new |

I've been going up and down the road on it today a few times so I'm starting to get used to the clutch and changing gears. Feel like abit of a tit tho goin so slow and probably looking so uncomfortable! Hopefully stand me in good stead though for the cbt. The couple of scratches are abit annoying, no idea how to remove them maybe i'll put a yamaha sticker over them
Can get it on the centre stand reasonably easily, just have to make sure i dont pussyfoot about with it or its hard to budge.
Just a case of practise now I reckon. Cheers for the comments and advice |
