hi,
i have a kindroad xt125cc cyclone
and recently the oil pump failed causing the gear crack ect to smash into pieces.
rather than buying all the bits and rebuilding the engine i got an almost new engine from a breakers which had only done 140miles had had come off a HONGDOU GY 125cc - 59plate.

the engine and gearbox was opened up and inspected by my father who is a mechanic and was clean and ticked over very good.

the engine was fitted to the bike with no problem and the now bike fires up and runs.

the only problem is thats theres a lack of power.

* anywhere near 5-7 thousand revs the bike stutters and chuggs.
* its hard to drive up any sort of hill in 3rd gear.
* a top speed of 55mph can only be achieved when travelling down hill for a long distance.

any ideas?
bearing in mind the oil and spark plug as already been changed.

thanks abs,

To much air? not enough fuel? possibly you may need to re-jet your carb?
cdi box? is it compatible with your "new" engine?

what about the plug? is it due to be changed/old
Plug cap? HT lead?

these are all things I would look into if I was in your situation.

just my ideas Thumbs Up

not too sure where to look for the air intake. the throttle pin as been adjusted inside of the carb several times in different positions, all giving the same result. + when searching for the cdi unit online the cdi unit is designed to run most chink bikes including the kindroad and hongdou + the plug looks fine

let me get this straight,
your using the new engine with the old carb?
I would have thought that you would want to try a carb set for that engine to be fair...

Certainly sounds like a tuning issue to me and if the carb isnt suitable it'll never go right...

Just a thought though...

all the Chinese bike engines are copy's of honda's cg 125 the only differnce between my old one and this one was the condition so there shouldn't a compatibility issue but thanks i will defiantly look into it

thanks Jvr

Every engine is different...you might have the same carb...but it could require proper setting up to this engine.
Not all engines are cg clones..they all have different materials and build quality...they might not even be OHV engines..
