I've seen a cracking 2-piece suit I like in Hein Gericke, but, I have a dilema you see, 'cause I'm losing weight just now and I don't really want to fork out £260 for a suit that (hopefully) won't fit me in say 6 months time!!!
My question is - is it possible to have leathers taken in or is that just another down-right stooooopid question from me?!?! ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10

Zak Leathers in Northampton do alterations to leathers.
I bought a men's 2 piece a while back and she put in some stretch panels on the hips to accomodate my girly bum (no sniggering please!).
I'd recommend them to anyone. Might be worth phoning them before you buy the leathers though to see how much it would be to have them taken in.
Good luck with the weight loss! |

Just make sure you buy the tightest fitting leathers you can. (Within reason). They'll stretch a little after a while and you really need them to be tight fitting if they are to work properly in the event of an off. I've noticed some of the suits at Hein Gericke don't actually include the armour at that price. Make sure that it does obviously.
As cath said, it is possible to alter leathers. Might need to look around for one locally for you. There should be plenty. There's even a guy through here in Edinburgh that does biker leather repairs. He's really good. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Leather stretches (bike leathers are unstretched hide, as opposed to casual wear), so buying before weightloss is not the best of ideas.
Leather can be repaired, altered etc but may not be ideal.
Since your learning, and expect to change size, why not get some decent fabric stuff that you can wear with a belt, and then move on to leathers later?
Although from the size of you in the xmas pic, you haven't got that much to lose, and they wouldn't need much alteration if you did.
If anyone needs leathers repaired/altered in the Reading area, gve me a shout and I'll pass on a number of a great wee place.

My reputation depends on it
Sounds like your first port of call would be a decent pair of boots. I'm assuming your cats have laces? Bit of a no-no for a learner, that one.
Get yersel a decent pair of boots, and you can decide what ye want to do with yer leathers.
But in my opinion a full set of race look leathers is a bit silly pootling along at 20mph on a bike with L plates.

Just for the record, these aren't full racing leathers, they're the ladies range - more stylish looking than racing (go on call me a poser) I will try and get a picture!
They're just black with a faun stripe down the side of the jacket and the trousers are the same - they are lovely - honest!!!!
But I do hear what you're saying about boots, I'm going out to get a pair this weekend. I was out looking for some last weekend, but couldn't find any I liked. I want ones that have a little bit of a heel on them, I've seen a pair advertised like that, so I'm going over there at the weekend!!
Hope that meets with your approval Shade ____________________ I have an asshole tolerance level of -10
