Hey,

I'm a new rider, and i've got some trouble with my bike if anyone can help me out.

About 2 weeks ago I managed to hit a kerb and come off the bike (it was either the kerb or a car so I chose the kerb) I was riding without a front brake and some idiot pulled infront of me on a bend). Im not sure what I've done to the bike but theres a horrible rattling/vibration noise coming from the spark plug area. The spark plugs been replaced recently, and I've been looking at how to do a valve clearance as I've got no other ideas but I'm not mechanically gifted.

Any ideas?

Can you post some pics of the area where you think the noise is coming from?

You obviously forgot to carry your "I don't have a front brake" sign out with you or you'd never have been pulled out on in the first place Rolling Eyes

Some idiot pulled in front of you on a bend? They may be in the wrong, but the idiot is the one who rides a bike without a front brake!!

Yeah I don't particularly think it was clever riding without a front brake if I'm honest man.

But if you want my 2 cents, it does indeed sound like valve clearances. My CG did this a lot when I bought it, but since it's still not roadworthy, I've had it apart and practically rebuilt it.

The only thing I missed was the valve clearances and it made pretty much the same noise you describe. Once I sorted the clearances out, it was fine.

0.038 inches is what your clearances need to be set at if I remember correctly. But go to this site and click on servicing, there is a good guide to sorting your valve clearances out on there.

Hope this helps, Thumbs Up

Cheers,

Steve.

p.s you would have probably got more help if you whacked this in the workshop section.

Think slam hit the nail on the head, but riding without a front break is abit of a dumb thing to be doing, as you could avoiding the vehicle and maintained control no doubt about it..

Make sure your bike is acceptable on the road Idea
