A decent RS50 can pwn a CBF125 off the lights with a lightweight rider ____________________ Current: Suzuki RG 125 Gamma, Honda H100, Triumph Tiger 800XC, Suzuki SV650 (minitwin) |

Indeed i was pwned. I still love my bike - your 100% right, it has a look of "I'll just keep going, and going, and going"... However i just felt a bit stupid cause when he pulled up and i heard the hairdryer like engine goin at it, i thought i'd have him!
Well he showed me. Its fine, i'll find him one day and pwn the shit out of him!
And @David, It was quite early this morning and i wouldn't pull my throttle back without being certain i'm not going to plough into anything.
I completely understand your POV safety is always at the front of my mind on my bike.. However i didn't just buy my bike to cut through traffic.. I bought it for the thrill of riding one too.
Point taken though mate, however - i AM going to toast that lad one day |

I personally prefer the sound of my bike.. You may think its a thud but i think it sounds more like a motorcycle.. less like a push-bike with an aluminium can jammed on the rear tyre...
Each to their own And in all fairness he did beat me! Hey, mine will last longer and is more fuel efficient i guess

That is the sound of power, not the dull thud of a 4 stroke.
All the best

Problem really is you are comparing a commuter, with a very light race bike with lights on, the RS125 is stupidly quick for a 125, and then they hit sort of 7krpm and take off like a rocket.
Don't be surprised an RS beat you, you will soon pass him at great speed when his engine has blown up, or it has just decided not to work.
But the RS125 is an awesome bike and being two stroke it is full of hard amounts of win, I can live with all the strimmer jokes about my RS, but one comment I got from someone following me on an R6 was
"That thing is fucking fast"
However you have to deal with the running costs on an RS125 as opposed to the running costs of a CBF125.
CBF125, start it, put petrol in and go
RS125, take seat off, check it has good fully synth 2stroke oil in it, if not fill it up, run it on higher octane fuel, use the correct spark plug, check the oil regularly, they really are a high maintenance machine as opposed to a four stroke low powered bike, then when it breaks parts aren't the cheapest nor easy to get hold of, everything I have bought for mine is 7-10 days back order |

Few years ago, I filtered to teh front of a queue of traffic at a T-Junction. Sat next to an inociouse Mondeo, wating for a gap.
Saw it, unleashing about 70% of the available grunt of a thousand cc V4, to save tyres and tarmac, only to be rather purturbed by the impudence of the bludy modeo man trying to take the same (small!) gap accross the cross-roads and MORE actually trying to shut the door on me!
I was SO stunned by such temerity I backed off and let him through...
Only THEN did I see the lettering ST24 on the back.....
Had to ask what it meant when I got to work....
It had only just been launched!
Had a similar experience about ten years earlier on the M42 when coming onto the entrance ramp from the right, a white Sierra with 'stupid' spoiler on the back entered from the left, and attempted to out-drag us all the way to the NEC!
Of course, it was one of the early release 'Wale-Tail' Cosworths
Moral of the Story, JUST 'cos your on a bike, dont expect to be the quickest thing away from the lights... even if your on a very quick bike..... there's always SOMETHING out there to catch you unawares! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
Current Bikes:'Honda VF1000F' ;'CB750F2N' ;'CB125TD ( 6 3 of em!)'; 'Montesa Cota 248'. Learner FAQ's:= 'U want to Ride a Motorbike! Where Do U start?' |

Must admit I've learnt quite a bit from this thread...
I always thought a 50cc... was a 50cc and they were shit and slow and noisey and good for nothing. I stand corrected!
My CBF is still better though.. and no doubt my bike is more attractive to girls |
