I would rather see it near to standard, but I would rather see a GT750 lump and spannies like that being used rather than sitting in a shed
If that was mine, it would live in the house .
Not quite in the same league, but I had five different GT250`s in my early biking life and I loved them ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now!

I wonder if any of the big companies making bikes have considered making a modern large two-stoke ? for the road.
I`ll bet with all the modern know-how and the advance in oils and materials, they could get it past emission laws, possibly? maybe?
That would be something, oh the tuning potential ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

I like the idea of updating old bikes in a subtle but effective way to make them handle, brake and go better but personally I reckon that one has gone a little too far.
Why the gsxr seat unit? Looks totally unmatched to the side panels and tank, the swingarm looks too bulky for it too, forks over the top and does it really need those tyre sizes?
Personally I think its nicer when the changes are more subtle and less immediately noticeable myself though that's obviously been done well. I like the engine paint. |

Looks like a right cluster fuck to me. Wouldn't mind seeing/hearing it in action though ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

KTM and Gas Gas still 2 stroke make enduro bikes up to 300cc which can easily (at least for the KTM, not so up on Gas Gas) converted to supermoto use.
50hp or so and 103kg no-fuel weight isn't too bad especially with electric start! KTM can have the power delivery easily tweaked with powerband configuration amongst other things too.
If 500hp/tonne isn't enough for you, then talk to Maico that claims up to 80hp from a 700cc 2 stroke single; with the SM version weighing in at a claimed 101kg.

I like 2 strokes, but only when they are actually offering something a 4 stroke isn't - ie you could probably artificially make a new 4 stroke have the revvy feel of a 2 stroke; so don't see any great reason to buy an old slightly-powerful 2 stroke with a relatively terrible chassis. |
