sprockets???

hey guys, just wanted to make sure that i was coorect in thinking that the bigger the rear sprocket and the smaller the front sprocket, the easier it would be in getting that front wheel into the sky? and does it really matter, rite now im running 12on the front to 50 on the back, but i'm thinking of changing to 11-56, basically i just want to wheelie and at the moment it is a bitch to get the front wheel up, any tips? and would changing my gearing make a BIG difference or is it not worth it? cheers

You are right, but make the gearing too low and you will just land up running out of revs immediately as the front wheel comes up.

Yes, it would probably flip over backwards on that gearing and you could pull away smoothly in third.

Remember it will also drop your top speed. You're talking about a radically different gearing there though. Almost certainly WAY too much

12:50 = 1:4.167
11:56 = 1:5.090

So that will drop your top speed by 22%

Dropping a single tooth on the front by itself would decrease your top speed by 9%.

Adding two on the rear by itself would decrease it by 4%.

A little bit at a time is the way. I'd try dropping one tooth on the front to start with.
