New R1, or run the CBR into the ground?

Looking at buying a new R1.
Anyone seen the deal "George White" are doing at the moment, plastered over MCN and email marketing?

Now, I've got a CBR600F 07 which I fookin love! Commute 50m per day, Track, the lot.
But I want a litre bike ...or do I?

My bike's got 44k on the clock now and George White say (without looking) they'll give me circa 4k for it. I've spread-sheeted it, and it makes sense given the current 4k asset in the CBR, which wont be there soon after, as the mileage will mean it's a throw away.

What do you reckon?

Not really a question anyone can answer really for you, you can either afford it or not depending on how much you earn, job security for next 5 years, finanical commitments etc.

Personally, I would never buy a bike on finance (5 years ) and I would never have a litre bike on the road as never needed more than a 600cc when I owed one so I 100% would keep the CBR if it runs fine.

If you get it that does sound like a good deal. Leaves about £8k on finance so about £135 a month over 5 years at 0%.

However I would be careful about the rest of the offer. If you are doing a lot of miles then I doubt that the servicing / tyres offers would cover all those miles. I suspect there is some limit on them.

Down side is that should you have to sell I doubt that the offer is transferable, so you will not get back what you have paid extra for (via the high list price).

There is also the slight worry of how secure are they as a dealer (same applies to any dealer though)? And if there ceased to be around the day after you got the bike how much of the offer is still of any value (ie, backed up independently)?

The R1 did get rather a bad reception and did seem to be overpriced compared to the opposition.
[Edit - checked up and seem to be offering it on all their bikes, does seem like a not bad at all offer if you're wanting to get a bike on finance anyway.]

Definitely get a decent ride on a litre bike.
Going from a 01 ZX6R to a tarted 00 ZX9R, I think was the point big bikes lost their 'spark' for me (this was in 03).
The ZX9R (headwork/lightening/WP/Ohlins) certainly handled better and went even faster, but it didn't *feel* much faster than the 600 when I was properly on it, yet you got to sillier speeds quicker.

I think you should run it into the ground, it's easily capable of 100k, much more economical to keep the CBR rather than buy a brand new bike and have it depreciate so quickly.

Its a want as well, you could quite happily run and service the CBR for less than the cost of the R1.

Its upto you with what you want. If you're buying new, make sure you'd be happy to keep the bike at least two years and ideally three.

I'm thinking of financing another bike at some point, but i'll still keep the RR7, my ideal is to build up a bit of a garage. Ideally I want a Supersport, Something like a Monster/Speed Triple, A Tourer/Plodder and then a Crosser for messing about on.

I think it'll take a few years to get there but I'll keep going.

Appears to be a good deal but 5 years on finance? Hellva long time.

In saying that however, I always pay off loans/debts early so Im very tempted to pick up a Versys.

never buy a bike over 5 years if your gunna be doing high milage...

I bought a zx6r over 5 years and did 40k miles on it, 3 years in if was starting to show the milage, 4 years in the bike was a peice of shit and was starting to full to bits.
When i sold it to a dealer for £500 to trade in for a R1 at the time i still owed £1200 on the ninja OUCH

Bought the R1 over 3 years, sold it after 2, cleared the finance and had some money left over.
