Hi guys.

My clutch is being unusually noisy. I noticed this noise when in first gear and I thought it was the camchain. It turns out it is the clutch.

What is happening is that in neutral with the bike idling there is a whirring noise coming from the clutch basket. This noise has been pretty recent in the past couple of weeks. The sound goes away when you pull the clutch lever when the bike is idling in neutral.

The clutch case is coming off anyway this week to replace a seal, but I was wondering if any of you knew what the issue could be. The bike has done around 24k miles.

Today I noticed that the biting point had moved to the end of the lever even though I adjusted it quite recently. I have enough experience with clutch cables to know it's not that.

I also noticed when I pulled into uni that I felt like there wasn't nearly as much engine braking as there should be compared to the rest of my journey. I double checked the choke wasn't on.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for any help! Thumbs Up

I sent them a letter a couple of weeks ago to let them know I'm appealing. I have 3 different reasons for appealing the parking ticket that I will explain in my thread once I get my cancellation letter.

I am pretty sure they will back down, because I know I wont. Thumbs Up

If the lever is needing adjusting, its more just a coincidence then!

When the clutch is apart, measure the plate thickness to see if you need to replace.

Also, check the basket for wear/grooving.
