Hey everyone Smile

Just recently (last 50 miles or so?) neutral has become a real pain in the ass to get. Whilst riding every gear seems absolutely fine and clutch seems ok. It is almost impossible to put it in neutral if the bike is warm...

Oil change less than <200 miles ago

All other gears seem fine

Sometimes easier to locate neutral if bike is moving still? ~5mph

Cheers in advance for your help Smile

Check your chain.

Most common reason for what you describe is the chain too slack.

If you're not sure how to check/adjust post back

Chain adjusted, done recently and made no difference to neutral (Although made ride much more pleasurable Very Happy)

Blipping throttle makes no difference (That I've noticed anyway)

Maybe consider another oil change?
IIRC the CG is about 900ml, so not that expensive, just a little bit of hassle.

One of my bikes did that when I put too much oil in it.
Ok on the move but a pain when stopped.

Lol, nice bike

Two things though:

Your front wheel fender is put on backwards and I could be wrong but the carburetta leg cover looks a bit crooked Laughing
Looks very strange xD

I have the same bike btw.

Check that the gear 'LEVER' is not pushed into the cover or for some other reason tight to move.

Another thing may be your boots are too heavy to let you feel the change in lever position. It is kinda subtle on some bikes.

Check the slack on your clutch cable, it might not be fully disengaging which makes it awkward.

I've got the same problem, but then my cg's a bit knackered in general. It's easy to put it in neutral when it's cold, but near impossible to do when had a bit of a ride.

I've found that if you brake while going downhill with the clutch in, it's a lot easier to flick it in to neutral!

Ok done some messing about...

* Chain at correct tension with no (noticable) tough spots

* Oil change done <50 miles ago

* Checked lever isnt hitting case

* Threatened with an assortment of hammers and other tools...

I've noticed more and more now that if the engine is off, it almost effortlessly goes into neutral, engine on and you've got no chance...

Try the rocking method.

Down into first and hold the clutch in. As if you are kicking it into neutral apply a fair bit of pressure on the lever but not enough to go into second (as you normally would like you said going ~5mph)

Then rock the back back and forth and it 'should' jump in.

If all else fails; ask a mechanic. Just ride there and explain and let them see.

I know the oil change wasn't long ago, but seeming as the gear box shares oil with the rest of the engine (it's a simple engine!) the oil level could still be wrong.

Use the dip stick!!!

Otherwise, I can only assume that the engine heating up affects the operation of the clutch somehow.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?
