Right, as some of you know from my other threads, i am in the process of building a race bike for next year. I have it almost fully assembled but it doesnt have any power (electrical).

I know the starter works as i joined the two wires together that feed the starter motor and that span, but when i turn the ignition switch on, nothing happens, no click from starter relay, no light comes on in rear light, its just like i havent turned the ignition on.

I have checked the ignition wires to the relay and they all seem fine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Carlos.

Sounds like what's happening with the GS I'm renovating. Strip the switchgear, check everything for continuity. I'm presuming you have a multimeter, right?

The switchgear wouldnt have an effect on when i turn the ignition on would it? I turned the ignition on on my road bike and can hear the relay click. Could it be that the relay itself is knackered?

Depends largely upon how it's wired. Do you have a wiring diagram for it?

Hi

Is there a master fuse built into the starter relay? Fairly common on Hondas, with all power from the battery going to the relay, and then some feeds from there to the rest of the electrical system.

Failing that start probing various connectors to the ignition switch and afterwards for a voltage (ie, volt meter, one probe to -ve battery terminal and the other to the various wires) and see where the power stops.

All the best

Keith

A charged battery, but all systems dead, rather than some stuff working and others not, suggests a problem in the main feed.
battery connection, battery earth, main fuse or the common 'feed' via the ignition switch.
Bike was a Cat B wirte off wasn't it?
What wrote it off, was it by any chance, stolen, (crashed) & recovered? If so, has some-one butchered the loom trying to hot-wire it?
Can you try the ignition switch off your other bike?
Check the wires into the back off the connector blocks looking for one thats broken or cut, particularly the connector on the ignition switch.

Yes Kickstart that is the type of relay on the bike, fuse is fine and relay looks good too, no corrosion etc. Quite stuck now and this has put the entire project in jeopardy and next seasons racing on hold. Anyone close by that could give me a hand?

I had this, had to jiggle the wires under the fuse box, it'll most likely be simple

Hi

Time to get a volt meter and probe around to find where the power stops.

All the best
