Thankyou to all that replied. I just wanted to make sure I gave some correct advise so later on he doesn't turn around and tell me I cost him a few extra quid
And just out of curiosity, I was playing around with some quotes myself and it turns out if you lie about the date the vehicle was purchased the price goes down. Now in what way does owning a bike for 1 year or 3 years change the risk of an accident
These insurance companies really confuse me |

haha fair play mate. Just out of 'curiosity' is there any way they can check how long I have had my bike in the case of a claim? |

Lol I thought they could, no getting away from them. What I am finding hard to believe is that last year I paid £550 for my TPF&T cover and my renewal quote was £1250 and online the best price I could find was £950. What is going on here? I haven't got any tickets/points/fines or claims |

The thieving cnuts just tell me they can't do anything about it
Before I go discount hunting does anybody know if the technique of calling a couple and comparing prices and asking for some discount actually works to knock a 5-10% off the price or will it be a waste of my time?
I am also thinking of telling a little white lie myself about my employment and putting something like 'tutor' instead of student. Can this be found out? because being at Brighton university i can find many people that will just say i give them private tutoring.

Don't bother lying, they only need a wiff of doubt in the event of a claim and you'll have a private investigator all over you.
Yes there is mileage in ringing around. I halved my quote by ringing up. 1100 + 750 excess to 600 + 450 excess ____________________ 2008 VFR800 VTEC |

You're not really taking the hint here, are you?
Declare you are a student. You'll be registered as a full time student, it wont take them long to find out and blow any claim to the contrary out the window.
YES they load the premium for students.
Students tend to be awkward, irresponsible, and generally smart-arsed, trying to stretch the grant check to the max, to be able to do stupid things for 'fun', getting into all manner of situations, with or without motorvehicles, which tend to be left in less secure places, when they aren't being over-loaded or raced around, in a generally neglected condition.
Declare 'student' and they will load your policy for it, but they'll also have to take into account some of the other anomolies of the life style, like the bike being registered at mum & dads, or not being kept at registered address over-night, when you spend the week-end kipping on a mates floor at another campus half the country away or whatever.
Now, your a student. That means you are smart, but that your knowledge is incomplete. Stop trying to be clever and learn something from what the folk here have been trying to say! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
