So I think it's the first time I've experienced such winds since buying the bike.

This afternoon I came home to find my bike diagonal in it's parking space, still on it's centrestand thank goodness however I think it's snapped a bit of the front screen from the cover being pulled under the back tyre and pulling on the front of the bike.

Just spent the last hour outside trying to get it parked within an inch of my car, now on it's side stand with the wind blowing it onto the stand, in gear and with the oxford stormex cover tied down across the middle with some paracord. Nowt else I can do but bloody hell it's pretty bad out there.

What do you guys do to protect your bike in high winds?

Put it in the shed.

If out, leave it somewhere near a wall to protect it from wind as much as possible.

Mine lives in the rear yard, and it is well protected from the wind, due to the 6 foot wall Thumbs Up

Whichever way you go from here involves exposed moorland roads - and most years there are days when it just isn't safe especially on lighter bikes (and bikes with fairings are worse than naked IMO)
At least there isn't that much traffic, coping with heavy traffic and wind buffeting between vehicles would be even more of a problem.

Unless there's a risk of scum seeing the bike, I'd seriously consider removing the cover in high winds. It just acts like a sail.

Was interesting this morning.

I tend to leave my bike uncovered during the week, but haven't had a bike fall over with a cover on before. I park on the garden path, very close to the house, with the side stand side facing the building, sometimes bungeed onto the bike to stop it flapping as much.

Hmm, seems like there isn't much I can do then. I was thinking of building some sort of half fence panel shelter with a tarpaulin roof, might try and guesstimate something together tomorrow if the wind situation improves enough in the day.

As for cover off, the rain here is blowing horizontally and i've yet to acf-50 the thing. Figure the best thing I could do was just tie it down to the bike.

We had gusts of 65mph here earlier. Had to pop in a post office - gone two minutes, came out to find old relic lying on her side. Riding was entertaining - I did about 85 in one direction, 30 in the other Laughing Fortunately we have a garage. I wouldn't fancy having a bike outside in all this.

Same here, popped into the sorting office to pick a parcel up and could see the bike rising then falling back onto the sidestand. The queue was bloody long and 5 mins felt like half an hour. So glad I don't have a fairing!!

Nearly got blown over at the traffic lights while not concentrating, made sure I put both feet down for the rest of the commute. Thumbs Up

Lukily my bike is now nice and warm in it's garage.

Left it in the garage. It's fucking howling out there right now, branches and shit all over the roads. Going along the M4 was hairy as fuck earlier, I was constantly compensating for gusts in the car, not to mention huge amounts of spray and the road was greasier than a slag's vajayjay.

I worry for my fellow Fazer owner who has brought his to work today, though. Still, if his tips over like Livefast's was threatening, there's a Pan next to it which will stop it going all the way over :p

There's a dude up the road for me who seems to have a thing for old Suzuki supersports, it's always outside under its cover, the cover was flapping like the aforementioned slag's kebab as I drove past it just now.

Unless you have to, don't. And be glad you're not my friends on the Island of Man still without COD:Black Ops because all the ships and planes with the post are cancelled.

Hi

In North Wales this evening. Been out in the car and came across an owl sat in the middle of the road. Stopped for it. Every time the poor thing tried to take off it got blown all over the place and then landed back on the road.

All the best

Keith

We had 65mph winds here two :o saw a triple rainbow aswell!! Was all sorts of shite flying about! Bet Mary Poppins was having a right hoot!!

Mine was on its sidestand in a mixture of gravelly mud.. And the wind had made it sink down into the mud, but not actually fall over Razz was parked next to a hummer which no doubt sheltered it a little bit.

Id agree with it being less likely to fall without a cover on, would act like a sail. Although sometimes i chain the bike to a lamp post, but its soo close its kinda welded to the lamp post so wont budge an inch.

Going over the orwell bridge in suffolk in the car was bad enough. You could see the truck in front leaning, i certainly wasnt going to overtake it!!

Getting real nasty out there, windows are rattlin'. Came home to find my baby CBR using it's cover in an attempt to paraglide across the garden.

Me and bike are sitting cosy and warm in the living room right now... Wink

When I got m 125 in april, I covered it up over the weekend. But one weekend I look outside and I see the bike on the floor. Shocked

Now it was a bit windy, but I think it was a wanker in his car tha knocked the bike, but couldn't prove it. Still pissed about it to this day!!! Evil or Very Mad

Now I'm not using it that often so covered it up again. I see the cover blows a bit in the wind, but bikes not moving.... which makes me think it was that wanker.

I might use some string to tie the cover down to bike.
