A mate of mine has not long had a spill on his Yam TDM850 and is now trying to put things right.
He has just done a tot-up of parts the bike will need to make it roadworthy again.
If he buys new parts, it will triple the value of the bike according to what he paid for it .
So he`s been doing the sums and looking on fleece-bay for used bits.
The thing is, is he going to get his money back by selling it as a roadworthy bike with all the bits replaced?
How much is a 1991 TDM 850 worth?.
I saw it before the crash and it was tidy but not showroom by a long chalk.
I think that as the frame and engine are both in good order and un-harmed, the bike is worth saving.
Basicly he had a mild/medium front-end stuff.
Broken bits include lights, forks, levers, various plastics from the front.
Everything needed is availible on fleece-bay for a lot less than new prices.
Is it viable to make it good again or should it go to the great scrapheap in the sky?
I seek the advice of the mighty BCF ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

If he was TP then buy the cheap parts and repair it. If he hasn't gone throught the insurance then it won't have a claim made against it.
If FC get the insurance to sort it ____________________ Suzuki GSF600 K3 (in the fastest colour, black). |

Thanks for all the repies lads .
Mr Al : quote : "Bikes are for riding and not investment. Crashing bikes is expensive, learn to deal with it."
This little crash has`nt cost me a penny .
Mr Pax & Mr Roger.
He is thinking long and hard about putting it back on the road again, and I think it`s going to be the fleece-bay route.
We were talking about it last night and he said that it`s not worth losing his no claims for a bike the does`nt appear to be worth a great deal.
so much for my own winter project , looks like we`ll be nursing his pile of bits back to life, Oh well, not to worry, at least it wont cost me half as much as my own projects usually do ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |
