It seemed to get a bit of a slating when it came out, have peoples views changed? Is it a real contender for the top dog 125 or is the CBR and RS still up there? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I loved mine to pieces, sure it was a sheep in wolfs clothing (..... ) and bloody expensive but it looked awesome and was great to ride. If it wasn't so expensive I don't think it would have been slated so much, it got a rep for being a rich parent spoilt kids bike |

if your 17 and want something taht will impressthe 15 year old girls of the nation then yes the r125 is a winner. i would have wanted one when i was 17, it looks great! however with a sensible head on i would always go for the rs125, yes the maintainance is higher but bloody hell its not that difficult to change a barrel and piston and its not even that expensive. plus you can tap over 30bhp from them yes please ____________________

My friend has a 2010 R125 in white, and it is very sexy and good looking, but the ride itself for me lacks feel compared to my ex RS125.
It's like comparing a nice Muller Yoghurt with some flavour to plain Milk.
Some people like it cheap and plain, some like abit of tastebud, mouth watering stuff. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

to me it looks alright (but i dont like hard lines and edges as seems to be the current trend). I didnt like the ride of it, but im a funny shape i think. Not comfy on a lot of bikes. I would not pay 4k for a 125 either unless it was something special, which i didnt feel it was.
Flip side of that i guess is its their money, their choice. Clearly some people feel they are worth it as there seems to be many happy buyers
Never know 125s like this could become more popular in a few years time with the new changes to tests. |

Its an OK bike, for a 125.
A 125 is what it is, a small bike for learners or people to get around in towns etc.
Its not fast at all, i think 70/75 is the accepted speed of it.
It isnt too comfy, I found its seat harder than wood.
Its all about the show off factor with kids, this does its job perfect! Most will go down the road and be sold for near half what they paid for them.
Its a good bike for town use and getting your first sexual experience with a girl.
It not good as a long term bike, although im a bit hypocritical as I bought a pit bike for commuting |

im not sure if you're being sarky or not here. if you are (and refering to the sx/exc) why would you buy one? well: fastest accelerating 125 going, arguably looks the best, truly devolped from racing - straight outa the box and boom its competative with the competition. ____________________ Why is it everything i race, seems to be going backwards?

I'd hazard a guess along the lines of you'd only need to pass a CBT to ride an R125, not a full motorcycle test.
With 0% finance agreements with tiny deposits, it's no wonder they're quite popular, if I was 17 and yet to pass my test, I'd probably lust after one.
It's all good and well comparing one to an RS125, but let's not forget, to get the full use of the Aprillia "legally", one must pass their test first to have them derestricted. In restricted form, I doubt there'd be much difference between the two.
Only thing I don't like about them asthetically is the slim/high tail, other than that, they look a lot better than the CBR125, which is probably its direct competitor.
But for me, they're way too expensive, even as a cheap commuter. Whereas I can see myself taking the piss and buying a used CBR125, the Yamaha doesn't invoke similar hilarity for some reason. |
