Hi to all as im new to the forum Smile ,

Iv fitted a Stage 6 exhaust and ive up jetted the carb to a 72, and now i have a serious bogging issue, it boggs right up untill i hit 5000rpm and hits 20mph. Once it is running flat out for about 40 seconds it hits 5000rpm and goes for it, and within about another 30 seconds i hit about 50-55mph at 8000rpm? Im not happy about the slow acceleration and how it handles even small hills to an almost stop, unless im over the 5000rpm, how could i get better acceleration? If it helps, my contra spring and rollers are all standard.

Cheers for reading and any replies.

Probably because the mixture is rich, Have you carb tuned, your getting a lot of power over so many thousand revs because two strokes fail to loose any mixture through the exhaust port when reving at a certain speed. AKA power band.

Suprised your exhaust hasn't melted yet.

Sorry I don't quite understand what you mean? In laymen terms please.

Basically, it sounds as though it's because of the adjustments you have made with the exhaust and carb up-jetting.

Low back pressure/power in low revs could be the new pipe fitted, a fuel mixture issue set at the carb or/and it could just be as a result of the changes you have made to the bike.

Low power in low revs also indicates new piston rings needed but unlike judging by he speed you attain in higher revs.

In laymen’s terms you shouldn’t have spent all that money turning a scooter into a rocket, you should have passed your test and bought a bigger bike.

Ok, thanks for your views on 50cc engines Confused , I only ride one as im 16 and live in the U.K. so I can't legally ride anything bigger, e.g. 125cc, but do you have any advice on how to stop the bogging and slow acceleration?

Firstly you can't just add go faster bits to your ped without knowing what your doing and having some knowledge of 2 strokes. Sounds like your mixture is well out and your engine is having a real hard time

Firstly take your spark plug out and check what colour the end is.
Black - Rich
Coffee - Perfect
Whiteish - Lean

Sounds like your mixture is extremly rich so i'd expect a black plug. You will need to sort your jetting out first, you might want to try a ped site as you will have owners with NRG's etc who have done this mod and could help you more.

You will then probably find that you need heavier rollers etc

BTW riding your ped with those mods is illegal at 16 Rolling Eyes Keep it standard, enjoy for a year then get a bigger bike

Hi, the Stage 6 Pro Replica exhaust pipe will never work with standard rollers, it makes virtually no power at all at 5000rpms (much less than the standard pipe at this rpm) but much more at higher revs
see... https://blog.pedparts.co.uk/2010/11/stage-6-pro-replica-exhaust-triumphs.html

All you have to do is decrease the weight of the rollers by approx 1.5 - 2grs to get the revs up and it will fly !
