Hey,
For anyone interested i thought i'd throw this up,
be warned, wrap up, it gets cold!

But not that cold, note temperatures are in farenheit. Smile

Taken from Long Distance Rider Community Pages

Take your speed and follow it accross to the ambient temperature to get the estimated wind chill (rough estimate, doesnt account for head/back/side winds etc).

More info can be found here .

Certainly makes me appreciate my textiles Very Happy

Best regards,

for some odd reason it seems to be either Fahrenheit / mph or C / kph.

Point duly noted though!

I hate the windchill factor. I especially hate the way your fingers go so numb it hurts to pull the clutch/ brake in Sad

Last winter i put some super sexy muffs on my handle bars, and i have to say they worked pretty well! This year though i'm trialling a combination of winter gloves, thermal inner gloves and heated grips!! Lets hope that's enough to stop my fingers dropping off from frost bite! Shocked

Does this take into account whether you wear clothes or not?

But, it's not that bad really, in 45 degrees, 30mph riding would be around 35 degrees or so, which is only a tad above freezing.

Ah well,

Why the 'uproar' (?) about fahrenheit people? I use it rather than centigrade all the time.

Wind chill is wind chill. Obviously if you are wearing clothes, it won't be that chilly on your skin. So no, it doesn't take clothes into account, but common sense would have told you that Wink

And Fahrenheit makes no sense. When it's 32 degrees, water freezes. What the hell? When it's 32 degrees, I should be sweating.

If it makes you happier, they're both the same at -16.

Smile I don't do Fahrenheit. Been out (on foot) in -43 C before now, that was more than cold enough for me. I have also experienced, and survived, bathrooms in England, which must the nearest to absolute zero it is possible to experience on this planet.

Working out possible wind chill just adds to the psychological feeling of it being colder than it really is. If you can still feel your extremities, it's not that cold, that's my rule of thumb Laughing
