Hi chaps,

Managed to ruin my 06 engine (46k) but got another one for £400 with 12k on it.
That said, since fitting I've got a few issues which are below and on the vid. Any ideas appreciated.

As per video desc.
A replacement engine with 12k on it. After fitting, its sluggish low down in the rev ranges, and will sometimes idle high or low to the point it stops. Can smell fuel but checked obvious hoses. Coils are new this year off the old engine as are the plugs. Battery was 12.4v so I'm topping it up at the moment. Any ideas and thoughts appreciated!

Have you set the carbs back to stock and balanced them?
That and the fact theres no airbox on there?

Who fitted the engine for you? I'd check that all of the throttle body rubbers are on properly. Does it do the same thing with the airbox and filter and ram air ducts in?

i know you have no air filter in at the moment, but are you using the standard filter and standard exhaust system?

Looked the same as my old 89 FZR from the top minus the airbox, thats why I queried the carbs Laughing

That aside then what he said ^^ Check its all seated properly. Have you checked all the plugs are still ok? You said they came from your old engine that died?

Garage fitted - not Honda.
Yep does the same thing with it all on.
I put the stock exhaust back on, just to see, and did make power delivery a little smoother.
It's still very sluggish and slow to respond low down in the rev range though. Once it's over 4-5k it's fine, but the throttle response is slow and sluggish below that.

Are you sure the new engine is the same year and used the same cdi/ecu.

I was going to say check the shims gap but 1st service for them is 16k
I think.
Maybe there is more than 12k on it.
