PostPosted: 12:13 - 11 Aug 2009    Post subject: pegout speedfight 2 2 stroke air cooled 56 plate - help. Reply with quote

Hi I have got a pegout speed fight 2, 2 stroke air colled 50cc 56 plate, and it idles absolutly fine, and revs its nuts off with out the air box on the carb, but as soon as its on, it only idles, and then if reved dies / stutters,

It had a new plug after this problem started, and it was just as bad. My friend recons it is the auto choke, as we have had the carb of many times to clean the jet out, and we recon its hanged by the wires, and has buggered
Auto choke up.

Would like to know if anyone could help me out.
Or has had a similar problem. I've oredered a new carb, so fingers crossed but would like some one else opinio
n.e
Thanks a lot in advance Smile

It indicates that it wants more air, have you tried adjusting the air/fuel ratio?

Have you had the carb of and cleaned it (can't remeber if u mentioned that or not)
And also have you checked the auto choke is functoning correctly? Might be permanantly
Shut. I have fixed my engine issue's, it was a internal problem, had to replace half the engine, I supsext
That it is a carb issue, either choke or a jet blocked. It could be the main jet as there is a jet beneath the jet
Or it could be the idle jet that is blocked. Hope this helps.

Usual suspects:
1. Float set too high
2. Reed valves not opening and closing properely with increased load (Unlikely, But still had it happen)
3. Main jet too high, but by the sound of it, it was fine before with the same jet
4. Air filter clogged
5. Exhaust coked up to high hell

Either way, PM me if you need further help, But check all of these first =)

take the auto choke off the carb when stone cold, , measure the length the brass bit is sticking out by, then take the wires of the auto choke and directly put one to the positive side and one to the negative side of the battery, after 10 mins the brass bit should be sticking out considerably more than before you started, about 10mm more, if not its knackered

basically this is all that happens when you turn the ignition on, power goes to the electric choke making it slowly close the chamber in the carb until it stops, there you have it, stone cold valve open, warm it up and it closes choke off. simple enough?

Im not great myself.

But yes, air filter may be a place to start; i didn't initially mean that Laughing

Then look at your fuel lines. See if they are blocked. There should be one that draws air and one the draws fuel. This is why when you disconnect your fuel tank it doesn't drip everywhere becaus ethe fuel draws the air: hence vacuum pump.

Not sure if yours is the same but thats what its like on my bike.

The fuel filter on mine is inside the tank on the end of the fuel hose. So get ready to empty your fuel into something (or ditch it because it maybe dodgy fuel anyway that is causing the problem) and then see what the filter looks like. Basically, if it is the same as my bike, you just undo a jubilee clip on the pump and the rest comes off. It isn't very wide and has little filters on it. If these are blocked then you can either clean them or buy new ones.

As with most of my posts, I may not be right so its best to listen to people who 100% know what they are on about.

Either go to the 'search BCF' bit and type in your name in the author bit to see all posts that you have made. Any new replies will have a little yellow/orange icon beside it with an arrow. Just click on it and it will take you to the latest post that you haven't read.

Alternatively, you can go to the corresponding forum (this one is workshop) and then find your thread. All threads that you have commented on will have a little + beside the title. If it has had a new post on it, it will again have this little symbol beside it.

Head to the New Bikers bit and introduce yourself.

And welcome to BCF Thumbs Up
