It is pretty much that really bar maybe some more pennies at trade in time? Depends on the condition / mileage at the time.
More of a question being, do you realy want a Twingo for the next 3 years? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

The thing with buying a brand new car (other than the depreciation etc etc) is that it traps you, mentally.
After having a brand new car you will always want a brand new one, sucked into the trap of thinking new = good, constantly paying £xxx per month to the car companies, ignoring potentially better cars just because they are used.
I will have a brand new car one day - I like the idea of it, but only when I can afford one which will be amazing - like a 911.
Until then, I'll have used ones thanks, it allows easier progression up the motoring scale, and flexibility. Plus, it's cheaper. For 3or4 installments on that Twingo you could have a useable car. All cars are amazing - I love my £300 clio, I have fun driving it, I have fun driving any car tbh - so why pay a fuckload of cash just to have something new? |

Anyone done a similar thing, are they as they seem or riddled with clauses and tricks.
thanks, nick | Do you really want:
A car you need to keep immaculate for 3 years?
A car for, well, 3 years??
Financial commitment for 3 years, having none now is when you should be saving for a rainy day.
A brand new car that'll be worth a mere 5K soon as it rolls off the forecourt?
A car you want own for 3 years but will pay thru the nose for EVERYTHING for?
Go get a pretty, nice lil used one. Least then its had some wear and been tested a bit.
Btw French cars aint bad, few of em are some the best around. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

Wife does this, after three years swap it for new, hand it back, or pay the optional final payment and the car is yours.
She's been doing it for 9 years now, 3 new motors. (latest is the Twingo, she likes it, so do I).
It's good in the snow too, bonus.
We had two Clios before this, and never a problem with any of them.
She doesn't do many miles at all, only about 2500 per year, and the cars are always immaculate when they go back, so we get a good deal for the next one. (mate at dealers too, so that helps)
Her monthly payments have come down at every trade in so far.
This will be the last though, as she retires next year.

Really?
In the 16months I've had mine, it has cost....
£312 - Purchase price
£180 - tax (18 months)
£30 - 3 tyres
£27 - Puncture repair & tracking
£30 - Oil & filter
£250 - MOT & repairs
£829 TOTAL
Let's say £900 just for the hell of it - or an average of £57 per month. I'd be suprised if you can get a new car for that money.
Does 45mpg too... |
Yeah, we worked it out over the previous 2 years of running the Mini and Bandit. Two very cheap vehicles to maintain (other than the MOT, I do all the work myself) and both do about ~45mpg (Mini slightly less, Bandit slightly more).
I could have switched to 1 vehicle but of the two I had, the Bandit couldn't do everything I need and the Mini wouldn't cope with the miles (50mile commute per day). On top of that the Mini was due some serious work both body and oily so that pushed the numbers up.
From two lots of insurance, tax, MOT and general maintenance, I now have no MOT, no tax and 1 insurance policy (which is the same as the Mini, ~£15 a month). On top of that, the IQ averages 52mpg.
The hardest thing for us to deal with was scrapping a Mini. Especially as we'd bought it as a rotten shell, nailed it together in a month and then slung it round Castle Combe more times than I really should have. Fun car, sad its gone but that's life |

Hmm the base Twingo is £8695 OTR, over 3 years you'd pay £4600 ish. On the renualt website a quick search shows a 2007 twingo with 16k on the clock is worth about £5000. So basically they are selling a £8695 car for £9600, clever ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj
