Finally got the GPX running with out leaking fuel everywhere, but can not get the rubbers between air box and carbs back on. The closest I got was warming them up and fitting them which took hours and as soon as they cooled down they fell off.

Was thinking of replacing the air box with cone filters which are hard to find, is there something i can replace the hoses with ?

Unfortunately its a GPZ issue i have had 2 750's now and they both have the same issue.... What i did was put the rubbers in boiling hot water to make them stretchy and flex a bit.... then put them on the bike fight and argue to get them in place and make sure they are all pushed down onto the carbs as far as possible, then i wedge the airbox against the frame with a piece of wood to hold it there... wait for the rubbers to cool and then they should be well and truly in place..

Failing that you can order replacements if you have the part number.

Hope this helps
Dave

I'm a bit confused how they fell off when they cooled?
Normally they are a right ball-ache to get back on, but once they're on properly, they're on.

Aye. I normally get them mad-hot and fit them that way. Depending on design, you can sometimes even fold them back on themselves, install the airbox side then "pop" the other side back over the end of the carbs.

Never had them come off again once they were eventually fitted because the "memory" of the plastic is generally set in the correct place. Makes me wonder if you have the correct rubber on the correct carb or if they are upside down or similar. Kawasaki ones are often marked for orientation (so eg. it'll be one way up for the left side, the other way up for the right side) Last set of GPZ carb rubbers I fitted were marked 'L TOP' and 'R TOP'.

I would strongly encourage you to persist with the rubbers. The GPZ/GPX/ZZR series do not take well to running without the airbox. There is a lot of complex pressure wave jiggery-pokery and maths going on in there.

"i gave up on mine and sold the bike before i committed suicide."

I know how you feel now, got quoted £70 for new rubbers, only paid £150 for bike. Tried again to fit them with heat gun and got 3 on but they fell off when started bike.

Got to be a cheaper way
