I started riding in April 2010 (age 32) and bought a brand new 10 plate Honda CBF125 as this seemed a sensible way into biking. It lasted me well through the summer and autumn although I was outgrowing it and getting frustrated with it's limited power (which when I first bought it I was in awe of lol)

Anyway was going to do the DAS at the end of autumn but never got round to it and sold the CBF as I am planning to take the DAS in spring, ready for a 600 for summer Smile

However, what I thought would be an easy few months without a bike hasn't been and I realised the bike bug had bitten... hard. Therefore I found myself a faster 125 so I can still ride about on L plates (rear to be fitted) but have more power and get used to a racing seating postion (as opposed to the sit up CBF). I've only been out on her a couple of times what with all the snow and bad weather however I'm very much liking the new powerband concept... as soon as I hit 6,000rpm it goes... and the fat rear tyre, lot less movement over ruts etc. great fun and a lovely two stroke.

Ride safe Thumbs Up

I noticed this too coming for my CBR125 with my little bmx tires (as my mates kept saying) to my 600, now I can lean with more confidence.

I would have probably just done my DAS instead with the cash form the CBF and got a 600. Nice bike though,Thumbs Up Stay safe.

Cheers, bought it because I'm not sure if I'm going to prefer sit up riding or racing undecided yet so this will be a cheaper way to find out... also I've always wanted a RS125 two-stroke, will be keeping it if I get a 600... it's a future museum piece lol.

What year is it, and how much cash needed to part?

They're fantastic bikes - I had one but sold to fund my wedding:( ... and bikeless since.

Just make sure to keep on top of the maintenance and you'll be well away.

It's 2005, done 10k miles and cost me £1,100 although I've had to spend more on tools and lubricants etc as I want to do as much as I can myself and learn a bit more about mechanics. Idea

I'll go out on it in any weather (except snow), gives me a chance to practice different riding conditions and a chance to clean it afterwards Very Happy not sure I believe in motorbike seasons i.e. put it in a garage for 3 months, as long as you pick the right day and wear the right stuff, why not take 'em out? Also feels a lot more stable in wet than CBF... tyres were too skinny for my liking...

Personally I'd have stuck with the CBF as it was newer and more reliable.

Not sure testing out the sportier style position on an RS125 is the best way to form your opinion on it...

But, aslong as you're happy its a good choice.
Each to their own. Thumbs Up
