Just go out for a ride in the damp and give the bike a rinse when you get back. It won't kill you.

I rode through most of last winter, but the last couple of weeks have defeated me - it's been snow or ice constantly, can't even get the bike onto the road, let alone ride it. I'm Jonesing for a ride. Sad

Not really bothered by the poor weather at this time of year. It's when it's dismal in spring and summer that I get pissed off.

Once we get through New Year we can start to look forward to those brighter days and drying winds as the days get longer.
Some of my best day trips have been mild days in February with the snowdrops coming out - but roads usually are still quiet even at weekends

I'm with 27cows... it's expected at this time of year. I'd much rather put up with it being cold and damp now than cold and damp in the summer.

Actually this has been the best week for ages, the roads have been fairly dry, and the sunrises Monday and Tuesday were excellent.

Wednesday evening and Thursday morning were so dry I was able to wind it up a bit (from my perspective) and have a bit of fun.

Last night was rain/snow which proved useful as it washed a lot of the accumulated salt off, both my gear and the bike. Thumbs Up

Likewise. Been using the bike every day the past week. Went for a nice little midnight blast on Wednesday night. A little damp but 7 degrees and empty roads. Very cold night last night and day today but there's only a little ice dotted around the place in potholes/puddles, no black ice or frozen dew. Dryer and gripper than they've been for a while.

All this talk of i'm biking through winter and it's okay where I live.

The UK has massive weather differences between regions, where i live it's different weather conditions within 10 miles as it is very very hilly.

There's also the fact that some roads are gritted and some or not.

Where I live I am at least 1 mile from a main road and perhaps 400 or 500 yards from a road that might be gritted (salt depending) added to the fact I live on top of a hill......

If your lucky enough to live in a council estate (they always grit them around here) or near a main road, I'm sure you'll be okay.

You're closest to Germany and they think it might be a new 'Little Ice Age' starting.
It must be true it's on a blog - so get used to it.
