take the plugs out is the best way then crank the engine over.

Generally if you have flooded the engine then the other way would be to turn off the fuel tap and open throttle wide open to remove the excess fuel.

As said first you better off taking out the plugs and giving them a clean because they will be totally fouled.

Has it been running rough? Miss-firing? Maybe time for new plugs

Take the spark plugs out and wait for the petrol in the cylinders to evaporate. Normally, waiting 10 mins is enough but if it's outside and you've got freezing temps, this can take ages (days or even weeks with the plugs in!).

If you want to speed things up a bit, use hot air (not any sort of flame Evil or Very Mad ) directed gently down through the hole; make sure you're in a well ventilated area for god's sake and no 'aving a fag while you're at it Rolling Eyes

You can also (some distance away) use a blow torch to dry off the business end of the plugs and warm them a bit before putting back together and trying again.

By the time you have stripped down to the plugs the fuel would have probably evaporated just leave it for a while.

What do you mean by flooded? Do you think fuel has poured into the cylinders or is it just that it won't start?

If its the second then just take the plugs out, give them a good clean, warm them up and put them back in.

Classic for a flooded engine is fuel off, choke off, throttle wide open and crank it until it either fires up or you are convinced it has cleared itself out. Or go inside, make a cup of tea, have a fag and try again once you've drunk the tea.

If you mean you think it has fluid locked (been lying on its side or similar and totally filled one or more barrells with fuel/oil), take the plugs out and crank it over a couple of times. Don't lean over the top of it when you do so. Then check the oil for fuel contamination and level.
