I have a Suzuki AY50 and it has 'Showa' front forks. Unfortunately, there's a bit of rust on them, so I was thinking of painting over it.
What sort of paint should I use on them?

Which part of the forks are corroding? The chromey bits? or the non-chromey bits?
If it's the non-chromey bits and they are aluminium, use a brush on 'etch' primer then paint whatever colour you want, or alternatively get them powder coated.
If it's the chromey bits... buy new chromey bits.

(And yes, I have it on good authority that "chromey bits" IS the techy poo term.)

I need to know what they're made from so I know what paint to buy.
Here's a picture with an arrow pointing to he part of the forks where it's rusting. (By the way, these aren't my forks)

From my experiance it would look rubbish just painted over the rust,my advise to you would be to get some cleaning tools like wire brushes that sort of thing and give then a really good scrub.

once cleaned up then you will be fine with most poiants id have thought iv always used hafords cheap stuff and had great results but remember the finish will only be as good as the prep you do first good look

Ok. Like you said, I was going to get some wire wool and prep the surface before painting it.
Do you know what that part of the forks are made from? It's either chrome or alloy, I'm not sure Confused

They are steel of some type, alloy generally don't rust.

Use any old paint you like, just remember that the finish is only as good as the base that you start from.

My Dad used alloy wheel paint on his forks that came out really well.
