Posted: 22:18 - 04 Jan 2011 Post subject: Suggest decent cable connectors? |
 |
|
My aftermarket mirrors with indicators require removing them to adjust the arm angle, which in turn involves removing scree, then VERY annoying wellnuts, and display unit just to disconnect indicators.
I want to cut the wires at the point they go through the fairing before the go into the display unit, and connect with some kind of connector.
I want this connector to ideally be black, waterproof, and easy to clip and unclip.
Any suggestions please? ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

I'd personally solder them on, and shrink wrap the joints. ____________________ Current Bike- Suzuki DRZ400 SM K6

I might be stating the bleeding obvious, but wouldn't the trick be to keep trial fitting the mirrors, until they're in the right place, then screw/bolt it all up? ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Problem is if one gets knocked or anything that's it, the bolt holding arm in place goes through base plate and up the arm of the mirror, so only way to it is by taking them off. I want this to be possible with ease should I ever have need. ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

If you're going to use the waterproof connectors (and I recommend that you do 'cus they rock), take care crimping the connectors unless you have the proper tool. You can use needle nosed pliers no problem, just take your time.
Also, remember to put the rubber seals on the cable before crimping and make sure that you crimp the smaller part of the rubber seal under the first part of the connector (second part is just for the exposed wire) to ensure that it's a watertight seal. |

Cheers for the advice! Will look back as a reminder when they arrive, though maybe should of ordered a third just in case. ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

Just realised I've dicked myself buying those! It will not fit through the hole in the fairing so they are pointless. £14 well spent then ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

Something simple like this would be good but can't find anywhere to buy them.
