Hey everyone.

This might be a simple fix, i hope so.

I flushed my fuel system out with some of that Redex and ever since the overflow pipe has leaked/dripped constantly. I guess that the Redex has eaten into the joint somewhere/chewed through the rust if its rusted somewhere.
Ive now cut and plugged the pipe but still have an eggcup full of petrol laying in the pipe inside the tank and the short rubber hose ive left attached so i can plug it.

Any ideas on how to permantly repair this? Anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

I was wondering if there was an epoxy resin type product(not sure if epoxy is petrol proof) that i could pour into the overflow to re-seal the pipe from inside. The other idea was to fill it completely with something and loose the overflow all together. And my last thought was to reinstate the petrol overflow pipe but attach a tap at the bottom that i could open if needed.

Any help appreciated

I am not expert but I had that same problem is it overflow on carbs ? if so then pluging the hole makes it worse cause now the fuel will be leaking through the jets into airbox and into the cyclinder. Smell your oil see if it smells of fuel.

try tapping the carb floats, if that doesn;t work carbs will have to come off and check flout valves will need to be checked

If it is the carbs as said above strip them if u left a fuel/redex mix in the float bowls chances are the redex has fuxked your needle valves, those ar normally brass with a rubber tip and the redex can eat the rubber causeing the carbs to flood constantly.

Oh no. D'OH, apologies for missing that nugget of info, the carbs are fine, Redex actually made them better. Its the petrol tank overflow. It has a pipe that runs internally from the ring next to the fuel cap to the base of the tank.

That's the water drain. Requires very much a can-do attitude to fix (you need to cut the old one out, braise a new one in and paint the resulting mess) and if it's blocked your bike will eventually conk out in the rain.

Lot of work / new tank / do not go out in the wet or wash bike!

Consider it plugged, all other options dont appeal and im not really any good at brasing anymore. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap replacement tank in the meantime.

Thanks for the replies and opinions

Yeah, but the rain in England is a bit more constant than in USland...
