Some of you may have read my thread about my headlight being shit. Well we nearly had it the other day, cleaned up the electrics, went for about 5 mins and went again. That was like 4 days ago. Went into town the following day and on the way back the bike just died. In the end had to push it over 4 miles in full bike gear.

Had a look over and decided it was electrical as it wasn't sparking. First thought was the ht lead so wiggled it a bit pushed and pulled this whatever. Still wasn't working. So dad thought it might be a good idea to cut the magneto wire (can't remember why) and it turned out it was all black and burnt inside dfor about an inch, maybe a bit more.

So I have ordered a new coil for it. But my problem is this:

Before 2003 Derbi Sendas were supposed to have separate regulator and flasher units but 2003> are supposed to have an all in one unit.

Mine has a separate flasher unit and regulator. For Derbi Sendas the regulator should be either a 5 or 3 pin, mine is six. And it isn't connected to anything, just earthed. Looks like there should be a block on it with wires connected that just push in. Well I cant find a block. So was the bikes electrics shit, they put a new rectifier that was compatible or something and those wires that were supposed to go to that to the coil? Then added a flasher unit?

I am so confused. And is it okay to run it like it was or was that the thing that made the coil go?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Sounds like a bit of a botch.

I could be wrong but I thought wires to the flasher unit should only come from the battery.
This is what batteries are for, they are a reprieve on the alternator which can't practically produce enough voltage to operate other things.
You may need to re jig this.

And to add to the confusion, here is a three pin rectifier.

Hmm.

Well I cant find any looms.

As for the flasher unit, I think (bike is down dads), that it is connected to the fuse bit, which is then connected to the battery, as far as I know.

I guess it would be a bit silly to ride it how it was (with a faulty reg/rec) then?
