honda cg gear noise?

alright lads right a few weeks ago was on the bike coming home from work was coming to some lights so started coming down me gears an when i came down in to 4th there was a noise from the gearbox like a grinding sound its been doing it ever since always in 4th never in nothing else ive know the clutch was going so i put it down as that went an got a new clutch today an now its doing it in most gears an its a lot louder does this mean the gearbox is fucked? thanks

Can you not stand next to it and rev it?

If it makes no noise then it is the clutch/gearbox.

If when riding and you pull the clutch in does the noise change/ go away?

Does it happen in neutral?

the only time it makes the noise is when u come down the gears so say am in 4th an i knock it down into 3rd an let the clutch out thats when it make the noise everything else with the clutch/gearbox seems fine

So in 4th, clutch in, down to 3rd, let clutch out then noise?

Sounds like the clutch. Something is not right with it. I say take to bike mechanic and get them to whip the cover off and see.

Just to make sure, this ONLY happens when changing down? 3rd to 4th is fine but not down.

Have you , re'set the clutch adjuster & cable adjusters ?

Did you soak the new friction plates in fresh oil ?

lol i know am going to have to take back to the shop tomoz an i thought i needed a new clutch because when i was trying to knock down my gears there was nothing there half the time so i was stuck in the wrong gear most of the time

thats quite low mileage for a cg, shouldn't be anything to bad. I would of changed the oil. My mates CG had some engine noise and when he changed the oil it went away completely!

when the bike shop did my clutch i asked about the oil an he said yer we have put some in could the noise be there because as something as simple as the wrong oil?

It could, but why do you keep asking us? They should have:

1) Soaked the clutch plates in new oil before fitting.
2) Filled it with 1 litre of new 10W40 motorcycle specific oil.

Did they? Is it on the receipt? Did they offer you an empty oil bottle as evidence?

If you go in all Billy Big Bananas and say "Do this, do that", then that's exactly what they'll do, regardless of whether it's right or not. At this point, you should probably stop guessing, or asking us to guess sight-unseen, and let them figure it out, even if it costs you a bit.

Or you could tell us where you are - there may be a friendly chap nearby who can pop round and help you diagnose the problem.
