I only use two co's for my drives:


scan.co.uk
or
aria.co.uk

Both supply as they should and have a good returns/replace policy

Yep u can use any 2.5 inch drive as long as its the right connectors SATA, IDE etc...

Iget all my parts from ebuyer you wont find them cheaper and they have free delivery option and uk call centers

ebuyer used to be my preferred but in September last year I brought 4 x 2tb 3.5 drives to go into an Netgear NAS Pro and when I put them in it showed the drives to have done 100's of hours and obviously not new...

ebuyer took them back very quickly and refused to comment on their suppliers...

I learnt a lesson with them..

I have been buying from Scan for quite a long time and whenever there has been a problem (and it's never been their fault) they've been as helpful as possible. I don't mind paying a few quid more and £4 on delivery as I know if I order at 4PM I will have what I want at 9AM the next morning, and if there is a problem I can call them and it will be sorted by a human being straight away.

You can use any hard drive you want provided it's 2.5" sata as has been said. Keep an eye on the 'Today Only' deals and see if you can find a bargain if you are not in a rush.

I would never buy a drive from ebay unless it was for data and being backed up. As i posted earlier normal outlets can shaft you let alone joe bloggs ebay store. I would buy many things from ebay but not hd's

Makes sense I guess. There's no mention of it, do you reckon that one would be covered by a WD
warranty? He states it's sealed, but I wonder who sealed it?


With the ebay stuff you don't know were its bin etc.. Has it dropped of the back of a lorry (as in physically or been nicked).. You never know the trail. Pay a little more and have the security..

If its important data or your main pc drive its worth doing right and taking no risks right?

I get all mine from dabs/Amazon, I avoid ebuyer, twice they have fucked up next day delivery orders for me DABS have been 100% good they also charged my friend for next day delivery but he didn;t get his stuff for 2 days, they wouldn't refund his postage., I am signed up to Amazon prime so get everything sent out next day delivery for free.

You might as well go for a 7200rpm drive the performance will be better and the cost not a great deal more.

FretGrinder said they're supposed to be pretty crash hot (Samsung hard drives). I ordered two today as they were the cheapest. Hopefully they turn out to be better than their phones!
