Scouring fleabay as i do for bits for my baby varadero I come across this https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-HONDA-varadero-xl-125-vee-twin-custom-/300513109824?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item45f7fa2740

Here was me thinking the mileage on mine was getting a bit high on 26,000 even though its still smooth and reliable. So to see one with 60,000 is impressive I think, what about you?

I had a 87 cub 90 for parts a while back. That had around 87k on it. The big end had munched it's self though. It still ran as well but sounded like a bag of spanners.

Wow thats a lot of riding, maybe its just me but I dont really associate high mileage with 125's as I tend to think of them as commuters doing about 4-5k a year at the most. Then when I think about it I go everywhere on mine as well as commuting Smile

30k in a year! That means you rebuilt it roughly every four weeks

I remember seeing some guy who had done 130,000 on a VFR 750. Generally old air cooled engines run forever, i think the world mileage record is some old beetle that had done the equivilant of a round trip to the moon

If ever you need a lesson in how to ruin a perfectly good Varadero, that is it, what was he thinking with that exhaust? Like the paint job though.

My CBR125 will be coming up to 40,000 miles soon although thats on its second engine.

Iv never seen a CBR125 get above 30,000 on a single engine! Many people I'v spoken to have said they have had to replace the engines on their CBR125's.

My RXS100 has done just over 373,000 miles. Over 110,000 miles on the current engine, still on all original components. Some 2 strokes do last Laughing

Nah the moon is only 238857 so 480,000 miles round trip, where as this guys is approaching 3 million miles in his Volvo P1800

New 5k engine installed and is being maintained more often than the manual Laughing

My ER-5 has 73k on the clocks. It still works fine, a few little problems here and there but on the whole its still going. Would like a new bike though Laughing.

Edit: I say on the clocks because I did 1,000 miles with a broken speedo cable. I ordered one the day it broke it just took two weeks to arrive Laughing.

My old MBX125 had about 32k on the clocks when it got nicked. Had been rebuilt quite a bit though (was derestricted and thrashed, doing regular 150 mile journies at a decent speed at one time)

Timon wrote:

Why? Even an RS125 wouldn't need rebuilding that often (and they are hard on rings). 2 strokes in lower states of tune don't really need any regular rebuilds and 30k on the original piston and rings on a DT wouldn't surprise me (and certainly people on here have managed that from an NSR125).

All the best

Keith
