Stories like that? No.
It was on a bad bend on a high risk road.
I know, I know "YOU WEREN'T THERE YOU DON'T KNOW!!!!!!ELEVEN!!!!!", but I have to infer from his friend's admission of guilt and the bike he was riding that they were probably hooning around and ran out of luck.
I'm not castigating him, and I do very much sympathise with all involved, but the lesson is: don't hoon around on a clearly marked bad bend on a well known dangerous road, and you don't have to worry about that kind of accident.
It's junctions that concern me. But you're not on a rehearsal. Hi vis, lights, own the lane, armour up (airbag gear?) and enjoy the years you've got. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Quite the contrary for me. I'll often watch bike crash vids on youtube when I start speeding up, just to remind myself what a pickle I could find myself in.
Also, they say that 90% of vehicle accidents take place within 4 miles of your home.... so I moved 9 miles away. ____________________ A Guide To Powerbands |

Nah, biking is in my blood... I imagine the day I give up is when my body packs up completely. Lost countless friends to motorbike accidents, most were caused by other vehicles, so hardly the rider or the motorbike's fault!!! ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Whilst stuff like this does make me think, it's mostly myself that scares me enough to slow me down. I'm a much slower rider than I was...say 5 months ago, purely because I've run wide on a couple corners and thought "If there was oncoming traffic I'd be in hospital right now". In my defence...I was trying to keep up with sport bikes on an RXS100 at the time.
Riding bikes is dangerous, but it's also really rewarding and brilliant fun! I feel that the couple of days training I've had for my test has really taught me how to ride properly and a bit more safely, but a lot of it also comes down to realising you're riding like a prat and making a concious effort to stop. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

I've crashed at some fair speeds, not overly fast but enough for some serious thoughts going into my head afterwards, but i still ride!
The reason? Because it's what puts a smile on my face (besides the obvious)! every time i kit up, i kit up properly knowing it can save my life if the brown stuff hits the whirly thing on the ceiling. i've attended bike crashes in my job. i know full well what happens when things go wrong for bikers and i appreciate riding even more as a result.
I made promises to some people, some are still with us, others are not.. but on my bike there are things of significance to them. if i give up riding i see it as giving up on my promise to them to always have something that puts a smile on my face.
that why it doesnt affect me ____________________ NDB 19/10/1989 - 1/11/2010 |Nowhere.Elyseum wrote: I get the distinct feeling that Tim should be our secret weapon for future trolling. I don't know many people that can rip the piss in Iambic pentameter |

Have I read the article wrong?...
Biker goes round corner, collides with Mondeo - how? who was on the wrong side of the road - biker or car? Then, biker behind ran over the first biker - seems pretty unavoidable, but this biker still gets done - how? ____________________ '10 Skyjet SJ125-23 - Crashed > '09 YBR 125 > '53 Suzuki SV650 - Died > 2010 Suzuki VanVan 125 > '87 Yamaha FZ750 Sold > VTR 1000 FireStorm - Sold > Honda CB1000R |
