Bit of a rant really.
Angry at myself for doing silly mistakes! First test, knocked a cone over, stupidly. Second, only 47kmph on the swerve. The examiner really wanted to pass me both times, but obviously couldn't. Everything else was perfect, both my instructer and examiner said they couldn't fault me.
So, just irritated. That's £100 down the drain But I will not give up!! |

Put it out of your mind and rebook. Its only money down the drain if you quit.
You know what you done wrong and where to improve. Already booked it
Yeah, had two try's of each, it was just the second swerve where I didn't get any faster. I really do not like that manouvre... but no choice.
I will not be beaten! |

You've done it 4 times now. Should be a piece of piss next time. It looks worse than it is. If you have your own bike then nothing wrong with practicing. Get yourself to the local shopping centre at the weekend and practice in an empty corner of it. Use one of the parking bay lines as the cones and swerve around it or a manhole cover. ____________________ illuminateTHEmind wrote: I am just more evolved than most of you guys... this allows me to pick of things quickly which would have normally taken the common man years to master

Are you doing it on a 125 or big bike?
If it is a 125- then just pin it coming out of the bend! A big bike is a breeze but of course if you are nervous you don;t want to put my pressure on your right hand.
You'll do it! It's only 2mph out, you can achieve it ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

I'm in the same boat. Failed mine on Friday 7th then I had it rebooked a week ago but cancelled for bad weather. Now waiting until my exams are finished on the 28th. I somehow managed to get up to speed first time for the emergency stop but failed to actually swerve the first time (nervous idiocy) and only did 48kph the second.
It's frustrating, I'll give you that, but you've got some experience behind you now so that can only help. I think my main problem was going round the bend too slowly and too tightly which didn't give me the space to get the little YBR up to speed for the gate.
I just want to ride my Bros now Hopefully won't be too long...Mod 2 should be a doddle in comparison. ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

Dont worry dude, you'll pass it next time... but pratice the move if you can.
Trust me you will use it. I did about about 5 times today already in London, stupid people just walking in the road with out looking.

I only got 50KPH one the emergency braking test just.
This was on the ER6N which is pretty fast, but I was scared to be too fast for the braking ofcourse.
Anyway, the key to the swerve test is the bend, keep it at 20MPH always, even check once when in the middle and when on the straight pin it down, use the sound to hear your speed as such, just pull that throttle down like you are catching 100 quid, then keep the rev stable o even a little higher, and think yeah I made 50JPH or more, but do not look at the speed, then do your position, swerve, rev off and stop in that box.
At the end of the day, if you hit a cone, you fail, but if you don't hit a cone because you are too slow, you fail.
On a 500, you should be able to just get there, if you have a strong wrist and some balls. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

YBR is a decently quick bike. Look, any non-shagged 125 can do the 50kph tests. Brazilian, Indian, Korean, Chinese - maybe even a Japanese bike - you just need to keep it in 2nd and show it the whip as you go round the bend. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Aye keep at it. Pin it out the bend and have confidence that you can make the swerve... I think I had about 55 kph on both manoeuvres. You CAN stop in the space available no probs.
Remember to ignore the speedo to some extent as it WILL under-read, on the XJ6 I took my test on, 35 mph indicated was about 50 kph on the test centre speed traps.
