honda cg125 2007. DEAD

hi, i have been having problems with my honda. my bike broke down 5 mins in to my journey and i could not get it restarted, the starter was dying and sounding all weezy. and the light were very dim. i had a friend take a look at it a dn he found that a cable from the alternator (i think) was holding on to the connector on the battery by a thread, so he got a new connector. it wasnt a exact fit but it should have done the job properly. i had the battery taken out of the bike aswell and charged it up. i got every thing back in the bike and it worked for a while. i tried to take it for a test run and it just cut out on me and i couldnt get it started, then once again the starter wouldnt do anything and lights were extremly dim.

alternator
rectifyer
coil
cdi
battery and it runs


get it running again and check the voltage

a bump start is just, turn ignition on ( dont try starting the bike just have it on) knock it into first or something and push the bike with the clutch in. build up a bit of speed then when its rolling let the clutch out and give it some revs and it should come alive

yeah it will run exactly the same mate. just a way of starting without using the electric. hopefully it works so you can get around untill its all sorted

Dead alternator, your bike is using the battery to run, when there is no power left in the battery it wont run, as it needs power for the spark plug, normally your bike would use the power supplied by the alternator to keep it running and to top the battery up.

Simple check with a thing that I have just forgotten the name, that checks voltage and stuff with two prongs on a wire, god damn it, anyway, measure the current going through the battery and see what the alternator is putting into the battery when it is running, it should stay about the same, but if the voltage is dropping then you are running on the battery.

I am in agreement with Pits, it seems you have a dead alternator.

Your bike is using the charge from the battery to run, all the time, however the alternator provides charge to the battery as it generates an electric current by spinning a rotor around inside a stator. This provides electricity to charge the battery.

However, your alternator is not working for some reason, therefore the bike is running on charge from the battery and that will get used up quick. Since the alternator is not working it is not providing charge back to the battery so the bike has no power to run.

Think of it as a fountain, if it has water (electricity) in it, then it will keep going, if it has no water in it, the fountain won't work.

As Pits said, the easy way to diagnose this is to check the current across the battery and compare it to the current across the alternator with a multimeter, if there is a large difference then there is your problem.

Take it to a dealership and get it looked at. .

alternators for the 07 cg are only £20 on ebay if ya need one

is there no kick start of newer cg's?! rubbish if not! my old hack was a beuty i have never heard of anyone killing a cg, you can run them on grits and lime juice with sand as oil.
