I'm considering getting a GSXR 1000 2004 (54) but has 30K on it. If looked after is this mileage reasonable for a sportsbike? How much life do these motors have past 30K?? ____________________ Current bike 2005 CBR1000RR, 2008 (58) GSXR1000 K8 *SOLD*, white/silver, 2007(07) Yamaha YZFR1 Black *SOLD*

Try to find out if things like the swingarm and headbearings have been done, they are the only things likely to wear and can cost a surprising amount of money to sort out.
Other than that if its been well cared for it should be fit for many more years to come.

Feel like I'm talking to myself
I'd probably want to make an observation of the rider and the bike to see what kind of riding its been doing.
30k of commuting or touring is nothing.
But 30k of Sunday blasts and trackdays is a lot however bulletproof the engine is.
If its got a topbox and heated grips
If its got supersticky tyres and trick suspension Its probably spent most of its time pinned on the redline. Unless of course the owner is just a bit of a poser. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

I'm seeing double! Hi Al, thanks for the advice. The bike has been used for mostly touring so what price? £3,500 - £4,000?? ____________________ Current bike 2005 CBR1000RR, 2008 (58) GSXR1000 K8 *SOLD*, white/silver, 2007(07) Yamaha YZFR1 Black *SOLD*

Well I've never been in the market for a K4 GSXR1000 but a quick search seems to suggest that 4k is enough to get you a tidy low/average mileage bike from a dealer, less if buying privately so I'd have thought a 30,000 miles example should be a bit cheaper.
If you know the history of the bike and trust the owner ect, then 30k probably isn't going to be a problem, however its still going to be worth less then a 15k example when you come to sell it so the price should still reflect the mileage. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj
