I'm considering getting a GSXR 1000 2004 (54) but has 30K on it. If looked after is this mileage reasonable for a sportsbike? How much life do these motors have past 30K?? Question

No, It would depend more on it's condition.

No problem for a K series 1000. Usual wear and tear is all that will occur.

If it is in good condition and has been well looked after with regular oil changes then the bike still has a lot of life left in it yet.

Try to find out if things like the swingarm and headbearings have been done, they are the only things likely to wear and can cost a surprising amount of money to sort out.
Other than that if its been well cared for it should be fit for many more years to come.
Thumbs Up

Cheers for the info, what price would you put on this bike 'if' it's condition is excellent?

Personally I would never buy a Suzuki ever again! It just wouldn't run right! Plus it was rusted to hell. Make sure you check the downpipes for rust.

Feel like I'm talking to myself Smile
I'd probably want to make an observation of the rider and the bike to see what kind of riding its been doing.
30k of commuting or touring is nothing.
But 30k of Sunday blasts and trackdays is a lot however bulletproof the engine is.
If its got a topbox and heated grips Thumbs Up
If its got supersticky tyres and trick suspension Thumbs Down Its probably spent most of its time pinned on the redline. Unless of course the owner is just a bit of a poser.

Maria - you've a fool.

Al - I bought a gsxr-1000 k1 with 41k on the clocks, it was sound apart from needing a new clutch. It had done about 20+ trackdays if not more and was used day in, day out by the owner.

Nowt wrong with it. Their engines are solid.

Did you check the bike over properly before you bought it?

Well I've never been in the market for a K4 GSXR1000 but a quick search seems to suggest that 4k is enough to get you a tidy low/average mileage bike from a dealer, less if buying privately so I'd have thought a 30,000 miles example should be a bit cheaper.

If you know the history of the bike and trust the owner ect, then 30k probably isn't going to be a problem, however its still going to be worth less then a 15k example when you come to sell it so the price should still reflect the mileage.

Nice but that is a K3 model, so £3-£3.5K would be more the value.
