Well, I guess it was bound to happen at some point but I have had my first ever RTA
I was heading straight over a roundabout, no traffic coming from the right, my right of way, traffic on the left was slowing down so I made my way over the roundabout and BANG a car slams right into the side of the bike (Thankfully just behind my leg) the bike span and I went flying.
Hit the floor did a few rolls, started to get back up but a guy jumped out of his car and told me to stay down and keep my helmet on.
Then I started to feel the pain lol police and ambulance showed up I got boarded and sent off to hospital, breath test from the police was all fine.
Thankfully the they only needed to cut my t-shirt off and my jacket was saved!
Xrays at hospital showed no broken bones but my neck back and leg are killing me, but as the nurse said thank god i had all my gear on as it definatley did its job ended up with a bloody toe and a grazed ass lol.
police came and got my statement the old lady driving the car said that I ran into her but my statement and an indipendant witnes statement said that she hit me and that it was my right of way so she was in the wrong.
bike got towed and is sitting an a garage at the moment so I dont know full extent of the damage but apparenly its a bit beaten up and wont change out of 1st gear :s not looking forward to seeing it.
HUGE thanks to the guy who got out and helped me, he said he was a biker so maybe its someone on here? and also a thanks to the tastey nurse that hoped out of her car to ask if I was ok
all in all I think im damn lucky and it this is the worst accident I have thats ok by me ____________________ XR125-L3 - Killed by Honda Jazz. Revived and back on the road

Another reason why the elderly shouldn't be on the roads...
Good to see you came off lightly.
Hopefully your insurance will sort it all out, at no expense to you
Btw what bike were you on at the time? |

I'll eat my lid if the doddering old fool wasn't in a Micra. Hopefully she'll be taken off the road for good before she hits someone else and tries to blame it on them.
Glad to hear you're not too badly off, and on the bright side, maybe her insurance will just offer to buy the bike. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I gave my insurance the reference number the police gave me and the PC who dealt with the incidents badge number and station he was based at and they are co-operating with each other.
Havent heard anything all week though from insurers, they havent even asked where the bike is!
The PC phoned me the other day to ask how i was and how im getting on though which was quite nice of him. ____________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OPv5mDPQ14

Yeah was prity mental lol
Just spoke to the police again and there def convinced that she was in the wrong, so i just need to tell insurance and tell them to contact the police with the ref number and the PC's sholder number and they take it from there
apparently they have to ask the police for there report tho so i need to make sure they do that as it states that im not at fault!
the old lady is goin to tell her insurance that it was my fault no doubt but the cop report should clear it all up. ____________________ XR125-L3 - Killed by Honda Jazz. Revived and back on the road

Shes in the wrong...dont accept 50/50.. needless to say highway code says give way to the right on a roundabout.. so uh WINRAR for you
Too many claims to count...but you have a decent case. Ive never had my bikes taken away/stored... just picked up by dad or left by the side of a road with locks on.
Good luck with it all, it all takes time...both the claim and the injuries |

Note: add Jazz to the Micra / Range Rover / Transit list.
Hat tip to the planning pencil pusher who put that empty chevroned area there - that could have been much nastier.
Hopefully she'll be done for at least Due Care and Attention. I'm not really enamoured of compulsory re-tests, but I'm starting to see the point of compulsory eye and hazard perception testing to get the worst of the codgers off the road. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Bummer mate, least it sounds like you got away with it physically.
It doesn't really matter whether she it you or you hit her, it was your right of way and you were on the roundabout, so never mind her jibber jabber. Same thing happened to me years ago, and it was all found in my favour.
Like others have said, claims can take ages, especially if injuries are taken into account (my last took nearly 2 years and I only broke my arm). Their insurance company will stretch it out until the last possible minute before paying you (the week before the court date for my last one), so dig your heels in for the long stretch... ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." glad your ok man dont forget to claim for new gear and injuries aswell as the bike and take a constant note of the injusries over the next few months, in detail.
my mate had a crash and it was 9 months before the insurance had a doctor do a check over, so obviously most of his injuries were gone, so keep note of them now as it may be a while before it all goes through get her insurance to pay for a hire bike aswell ____________________ KLX 300r |
