Its rather fun.

A change from the SP1, very few down sides. only 2 i can think of are is that the gearbox is crap, clunky and not very smooth transitions betwee nthe gears and the second point is the rear brake, seems non effective.. ill be looking at that the coming weekend.

Its an amazing bike, sounds good too...

First mods are to get a PCIII and dynoed, and HIDs Thumbs Up

Nice bike!

Check out RSV.net for any information, the back brake issue has been covered loads of time on there.

Good choice sir Thumbs Up. Caliper needs taking off the bracket and bled upside-down (with the nipple at the highest point) to get the air out of it. Apparently it does go spongey again after a while, though.

Cheers guys Thumbs Up

I can do a write up, but it will be after the giddyness of a new bike. Laughing

As for my first impressions its amazing. and very confidence inspiring, the front Brembos stop the bike very well and are very controllable. rear brake seems to suffer from the normal RSV fault. But that will get fided

Gearbox shouldn't be too clunky.

Maybe the first few minutes of a ride. The 15W50 oil is very thick and takes a while to warm up and thin out a little, after which the gearbox tends to lose any clunkyness. Apart from neutral to first, which can be a bit crude. But once warmed up, the rest of the changes should be pretty smooth. Certinly no less so than the SP-1, in my experience.

If you're talking about down changes, it could be the 'slipper clutch' which gives quite a different feel to the SP-1 when engaging gears, especially at high revs.

As crude as Honda's "dropping a brick in a bucket" N->1st gear selection? Laughing

Honda do 3. VTR SP1 or SP2 for hooligan factor (But blackies went tits up now and then) or the VTR Firestorm who Mike once called the grown up sports bike. All 1000cc and all sound like thunder when you twist the throttle.

Suzuki also do the TL and TLR 1000.

Limp wristed. From someone In a pink dress? Shocked Laughing

Seriously though. I chose the Firestorm over the TL1000 because its been called a tame twin. The price for either was about the same and having just passed my DAS test not even a year ago I thought I should go the "sensible" way and get the Storm rather than the out and out hooligan machine that the TL tends to be. I dont regret it and even with the standard cans I have people telling me it sounds amazing.

Aye, i knew about them. I meant mid range sized really, which the sv 650 fits perfectly. It'd be a nice step up from 350cc, Dont think i'd be ready for a litre bike just yet......

Although... Twisted Evil
