Hi guys.
looking for a bike stand for my XR250 any recommendations?
I don't want to pay the earth for it but I would like it to jack the bike up quite high.
thanks ____________________ Current bikes : 1997 Honda VTR1000RV Firestorm |

Pah, lots of motocross stands don't have a 'lift' element at all, you just tilt the bike a bit slot it under and lift it back up to vertical . |

I've got two, one like is pictured above, and a cheap one I bought recently, like this:
https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1263.JPG
This one's cheap, I think £26 off eBay including postage. But the mechanism means that the leverage is very poor, and you often have to take some weight off it in order for you to start lifting it. Which is useless. I tend to only use it for my pitbike now.
My other one, like this:

is still cheap, but works much better. (Probably doesn't lift quite as high though).

You may have a point there G ref the leverage
Had a look at it tonight and theres plenty of overlap on the uprights and loosing a cm or so would not make it any more unstable at its highest and would be perfectly safe I'd say
As you rightly say - I could always put it back in if it were to cause leverage issues
Anyway found a reference to the Makro stands at "not much money" - with a picture
They look the dogs danglies, and I may just end up with one anyway
