How many people on restricted licence on this forum?

How many of you 17-20 year old people have the restricted licence? and what bike do you ride? also; is it still restricted or did they fall out?

Had a gsxr600 until a few months ago now got a 2002 R1.

19 with an r1 and 18 with a Gixxer 6, that is insane, what do you do for a living?

17 had a Suzuki bandit, then a ZXR400 then a 2001 R6

Now I'm 19 and have the R6 and a WR400 supermoto.

Neither are restricted but restricted licence is over in a few months time and December the R6 should be swapped for a 2002 CBR954RR Fireblade

Err my insurance is a bit steep as i also have 12 points and a ban on my license. I think im paying about a grand a year tpo.
As for my job its a very boring IT job.

I am guessing you are speaking a 400 Bandit, as it would be silly to go Bandit 6 to zxr 400, Yams what is your insurance on the r6?

And yes all of my bikes have been derestricted. The GSXR was never restricted and when i bought the R1 the garage forced me to buy it restricted. I had the bike in pieces the next day in my lounge (it was raining outside) and took it all out myself. Suppose at least i've got the restriction certificate now.

I passed my test in June, I ride an NC30 (still restricted). I'm 20, 21 next week I pay £650 TPFT with 3 points and zero NCB.

By this friday 13th i will be on my restricted license, i didn't book my test soon enough so i had to re-do cbt (17-19)

I've been riding a derestricted yam dt125r (20ish bhp) from the off, don't know if i've ever ridden it legally for that matter, which i now have to sell to pay for insuring my...

kawasaki er5. yes it's a bit bland, yes i'm going to get it restricted (for a while at least) but i really want a rev-limiting restrictor kit so i keep my low-rev torque.

if i could find an electronic rev-limiter, then a handlebar-mounted switch might just be in order...

You might as well have it unrestricted then, the only restrictions that count for anything in the eyes of the law are the official ones fitted by official dealerships/garages. Any other type of restrictor doesn't count for anything.

I'm 20, have had a licence for about 15months. And i ride a 03 reg Hornet 600. My restrictors magically disapiered when kev took my bike apart a couple of weeks ago.
Have no idea about insurance cus i just changed my bike on the poilicy i had for my 125.

Well the bike was bought with the restictors already taken out (done by the previous owner), but i have the certificate to show it should be restricted... All good, there.

Payed £550 insurance.

I have been searching for quotes this morning and for TPO including the carry of pillion, will be costing me £911.23 p.a. on a 1997 Yamaha Yzf 600 Thundercat, that is not bad for a 17 year old is it?

When i do actually come to getting insured i will be asking Danny though, as i am sure he will save me a hell of a lot.

Also how can i get a certificate to say i am restricted? Just for a bit of extra help against the law.

Although the restrictors will fall out though when i have gained enough experience that i feel comfortable with it.

Well although I am far from being 17-20 I am also on a restricted licence as I chose to take my test on a 125 due to height problems with all the DAS bikes I have encountered.

I ride a 1994 Kawasaki EL250 which is 27bhp, and as I have said before my main problem when choosing/riding a bike is the height/weight thing. I also own a VT500 Shadow which is being sorted for me to ride when my restriction is up. I have ridden this on our local carpark on a few occasions, and found that I was fine in a straight line but turns took a bit of getting used to!

Incidentally, one of the main advantages of being old is that my insurance (TPFT with cover to ride other bikes) on the EL is £75!

Someone with a restricted license? Shops are quite likely to insist on selling it restricted, and your insurance company might want the proof of restriction, and the proof of restriction is quite handy to have as you can show it to the police if needed.
