I am considering grabbing this game for the pc, just waiting to see a review from the likes of IGN.

I won't play if it is a turd of a console port, and doesn't support a 360 controller.

It's good but not great. Handling is very arcade style so don't expect it to be like GT5 or forza at all.

Not much of an improvement compared to the last one really, it's just an update of it. No bikes in this one though, their supposedly being added in a DLC.

However I've only been on it for 3/4 hours and it is growing on me so maybe it gets better as it goes on.

I feel the same about it tbh Catalyst.

I feel sorry for you console people who have to pay £40 for it. It's certainly not worth that much.

By the way, I don't know if you lot know about this, but there is a little program called xinputemu. It basically makes your normal controllers pretend to be Xbox pads, very useful when there is no support for normal Windows joysticks etc. It's a bit of a faff but it saves paying £30 out when you have a perfectly good pad sitting there.

Waste of money! I should have torrented it to "see what it was like" before buying it on direct download!

They said that they had changed the physics of the vehicles! Bollocks have they! Graphics aren't really too bad, but it's like getting the old test drive unlimited and sprinking some directx11 magic on it. If you want eye candy and playability in a semi-arcadey package, nothing for me beats DIRT2 for the off road antics or GRID for that matter. (for the PC that is!)

Oh, and it WON'T let me run in full screen mode! It's defaulted to a window and I haven't managed to find a way to get it working properly. Consequently, I need to run it at 1920 x 1080, not that my rig won't handle it, but it's annoying when you have the taskbar below and a strip at the top of the screen!

TDU was a much better game IMO so let me start with the quirks other than what I mentioned above.

1) Cutscene and storyline - SOO annoying. Solar crown this, wilder brother that! WHO GIVES A SHIT! I just want to race! Oh, and if you want to earn money, you need to complete championships rather than picking individual races - remember those top speed challenges in TDU where you can rack up 40k in 15 seconds? Well, you can't exit a race once you've attained your top speed anymore!

2) When I want to start a race, I want a to be in my chosen view when the countdown occurs so that I know that I'm in 1st gear. Too many times it's hit 1 and I'm in neutral revving the tits off.

3) Damage mode is non-existent. It's purely cosmetics! And hitting your opponents car will NOT send them off line or damage it! Oh, if you hit a tree, you somehow pogo back! Yeah, they got newton's conservation of momentum right but it's excessive the amount of recoil you get off stationary objects!

4) It wouldn't default my controls to my xbox360 controller so I had to map all the buttons individually - only to find that there was an option tucked away in some 3rd tier menu!

5) Car selection has been heavily castrated! No Lambo?! Yes I know there was a licensing issue but I always merked races on the Gallardo and Murci'.

All that aside, it's still pretty addictive to play in free-roam mode because I appreciate the detail they've gone into to replicate Oahu and Ibiza. If anything, the best element to the game is the off-road.

I normally play racing games with minimal driver aids - but in this, you can't really set what you want ON or OFF like the old TDU - like I want ABS OFF but TCS on for example. Too many times I've had ridiculous lift-off oversteer on a golf GTI! To compensate for this, I've had to raise the dead zone of my steering wheel, turn the sensitivity and steering damper to the lowest and it's moderately playable.

SO in short, for the PC, it fall short. If you want off road fun - get DIRT. If you want an arcadey, free roaming game that's more enjoyable especially if you like damaging opponents, then get NFS Hot Pursuit or Burnout Paradise (hours of meaningless fun).

If i bought the DVD version of the game, no doubt it would be in pieces by now. Stick with TDU 1 to avoid being disappointed.

I got so frustrated with the game, I downloaded superbike X (despite having it on the Xbox360) just to readjust myself to how good handling physics should be like!

Yeah, that's what my meant by not properly full screen. Only today it started display the taskbar! The graphics aren't that great either if you're used to GRID or DIRT or even burnout!

From what I’ve seen of my mate playing it and brief play I had, I’m not overwhelmed by it.
Perhaps it’s saving grace will be the content? It’s a decent size game, two islands and lots to see but as a game dedicated to driving it is disappointing.
I had a quick go in a Subaru speed test, first thing I noticed was the terrible sound quality, secondly the handling and then when I did smack an oncoming car it was just, boring.
I hear you can start a car club online with your mates, I like that idea, shame it probably wouldn’t hold my attention for very long.

Really have a mixed view on this game, once I start playing it then i'm on it for hours but I have to force myself to go on it.

This really could have been something special but they just didn't get it right this time, such as is the gaming industry at the moment where games are rushed out and not played properly to see if it's any good first.

I'm waiting for Fight Night Champions now, the demo was very impressive!

Having now played both I prefer NFS. By miles.

NFS in Game for £25 today... Result.

Any of you on NFS on playstation? The Autoblog thing is pretty cool.
